FYI it does not work for Google Photos even though it works for Google Drive. You may have to use gphoto-sync with docker but it may not be able to download original quality photos properly as per reports. Using Google Takeout is easier.

As for mega, try this one.

I am using 920+. I dont see it in my package store in DSM. I also see that applied models does not include 920+ but there is 918+ :s11:

In the morning my DS213J auto send an email saying drive 2 having bad sector and ask to go Storage Manager>HDD/SSD>SMART to run the extended test but in the Control Panel where do I find the Storage Manager Icon ?

I only can find the below : -

Control Panel > Info Center > Storage

So how to get into the Storage Manager ?

The NAS is on DSM 6.2.3-25426 Update 3

Thanks in advance for helping out on this matter.

have a 416J and only have like 2 x 2TB NAS HDD, maybe WD RED

thinking of getting another 2 HDD to put into the spare slots

which HDD do you recommend to buy ?

read somewhere NAS HDD are just marketing gimmick, might as well get enterprise HDD as they last longer or are better,

just want to use the HDD to backup my itunes music collection, photos and some movie files

which capacity is the best value for money as well as lasting and where to buy them,

can anyone share,

thanks in advance

maybe to share my use and can advise what i should do,

previously bought the 416j because of backup, worry that my music, photo and videos get lost if HDD on pc crashed,

so that year bought a small form factor basic pc and this 416J for backup and maybe to store my essential files

but during use, i find the transfer to be slow so sort of after backup once, just leave it there and not been touching it much

then recently one external HDD just offline and when i unplug and plug back, the HDD is like a new drive so i got a scare and want to get additional HDD for my 416j and start to transfer my newly update files over the years into my 416j

so that is why the question but now the new model is 420j is same price as when i bought it like 5 or 6 year ago

should i get new HDD and put into my 416J or should 1 buy a new NAS which can support 7200 rpm speed or faster speed

i need it for raid 1 for backup and maybe another 2 for streaming as i can see that nas also can stream but never got to try it out and maybe 416j cannot stream

or should i just get a 2 bay NAS and just for backup only which can support 7200rpm for faster backup and use conventional way to watch shows on pc or tv as i have mac mini for tv but just need to move the external hdd around when i want to watch on tv instead on computer

can anyone advise ?

thanks in advance

I will totally skip WD Red shits

Ds416j is capable of 1Gbps transfer speed. If u say it is slow, are you on LAN or Wireless? If wireless which band?

Although the email send inform about the bad sectors but when I go : -

Control Panel > Info Center > Storage

The Storage info show both drive 1 and drive 2 as healthy.

As such can I skip this repair step , just plug out drive 2 and replace with a new hard disk and let the NAS software re-build from drive 1 ?

Check the SMART diagnostic. If u can screen cap it and show it here it will help us helping you.

On your 2nd statement, yes. Please do it only when the NAS is off

Hello experts, new to NAS here seeking for advice. I am planning to get 2 Synology NAS, 1 placed at location A (host) and the other at location B (client) and would like to run a "2-way" sync between them in real-time so whatever changes done on the NAS at location A is replicated/backed up to the NAS at location B and vice-versa. The problem is that I only have the ability to do port forwarding at location A and not at location B, so based on this am I right to say that I can only configure on location B a "pull" synchronization job from location A aka 1-way sync? Thank you!
