Need a laptop, pls recommend / advice

The last time I owned a laptop was in 2020. It was a Acer Nitro. Now 2026 the technology change a lot. Just came out from prison again after one year. So I need some advice on which laptop to get. Mostly use for gaming, Netflix, surf internet. I’m planning to attend some skillfuture courses with the $3000 allowances. Most of the course I think. Red to use laptop.

I did some research and it seems Lenovo Legion is very popular. But there are so many version. My budget is $1600-$2000.
I am very confused by the specs nowadays. Got i7 i9 and then Rtx 5050 5070 … read until I blur

pls help me shortlist either Lenovo legion or hp omen or Acer within my budget and purposes

Do you really need a "laptop" (with built-in rechargeable battery) or a "mini-PC" will do?

Do you really need a dedicated powerful graphics GPU (for very heavy gaming etc)? If not, this below is a more than enough powerful mini-PC for you:
