Hi all, im having trouble with choosing a laptop that might worth for my brother...but the problem most headache for me is that the promo i see around here are all Asus (PCDREAMS promo), like all other brands no promo :(

anywyay here some info we are looking for:

budget: 1200~1300
Needs: a decent gpu and cpu. (i5/i7 and amd/nvidia gpu)
usage: play games for Dota 2 and diablo 3

whats not impt:

weight
dvd
battery life (though hope for decent 4 hrs?)

other needs:
1) able to upgrade ram (maybe 16GB) and SSD (SSD not sure hope to get maybe with m.2 port or normal SSD or msata that kind) (next hope can put 2 kinds)
2) at least 2 usb3.0 (have 3.1 or type c would be better :D)
3) wifi decent AC speed (at least can get 800+, but not sure if there is such pci-e card)
4) LAN port 1GBps (saw a few models dun include the speed and some max 100mbps, cos while gaming at least he can plug in lan port and charge at the same time :D)
5) hope it does not runs too hot on the lap (that feeling feels like its burning the flesh of the skin :o)
6) if can 3 years warranty else 2 years. and maybe can tell me are they able to come down to help us service or we bring to their service centre.
7) lastly hope customers services is acceptable or able to like talk nicely...(seen some threads like asus, lenovo have issues with the CS.

lastly hope u can give me the model with their so call specific model name :D

TIA

PS: sorry for the long-winded lines. but he cant make any decisions neither do i have any reco beside asus...

At such budget, at the most it's consumer grade laptop with one or two years warranty only but you have to send it down to service center.
For three years warranty is business grade laptop, the good thing is you just have to call and they will repair onsite.

The downside for business grade laptop is unfortunately it does not fit your budget. Base model for Business grade already cost $2k+.
Since your bro is studying Unisim not local so unlikely be able to
buy such a laptop through the school.

sadly nope, but my bro is uni(but he is talking private u).

Uni offerings generally have on site warranty, and 3 years.

For your budget you probably would be looking at a i7 6500U / Nvidia GT940MX spec range with 1 to 2 years of warranty - hopefully this would help you out alittle

Basically most laptop makes are having such specs - it's mostly i7 6500u or i5 6200

Gen 7 processors are coming out slowly.

Just checked out a dell Inspiron 15, 5000 series at Best Denki it's rocking a i7, 7th generation processor - an i7 7500u at $1199 with an AMD R7 M445 4GB and 8GB of ram - should be sufficient for your bro's needs.

1 year warranty though.

Lenovo offers their 510 series with an i7 7500u as well with an Nvidia Gt940mx at $1099

i see, since his pc is going down soon, so he say he would want a laptop as well, so he can bring it to his workplace and school.

will show him these 2 model and see if he is ok or not. :D
