need a pro on troubleshooting my com

Intel i5-3470
Kingston 8gb 1600 ddr3
Plextor 128gb M5 Pro
Seasonic 620w
gtx 460
hdd 500 wd blue
hdd 160 Hitachi

everything is new. only the gtx460 is 2nd hand
the other 2 hdd i ported from my old com.

problem 1
my ssd is booting up really slow. 30sec bootup 5sec windows
problem 2
random hangs
sometimes just surfing net.. then just hang.. my mouse can move but i cant click anything.

this com is just about 1 month old.
all gotten from trade pac
fixed up at nigel's shop
if any pros willing to drop my place.. i am staying in woodlands
i paid $800 from ====>
hoping to get rid of all the problems.
clearly it did not.. i dont know something up with tradepac
or fixing at nigel's
i am willing to pay the pro 20.00 to fix my com..
+ dinner under my block.

try reformatting them... I presume they have the OS files frm old com still inside? May be conflicting with new OS in ssd... at least eliminate the possibility of HDD being the cause...

or the easier way is to unplug the 2 3.5 hdd and boot with the SSD only

could be HDD problem or sata cable problem.
1) try check your hdd using Hard Disk Sentinel . this is my favourite software to check the health of disk to see if there is any bad/weak sectors.
2) if no bad sector, try take out hdd, which sharkapl has suggested, to see if it still takes u 30sec to load into windows.
3) change your sata cables to try again.

Suspect problems with your old hdds. As sharpakl suggested, unplug the two hdds and just boot with SSD. This would eliminate the fault if any with the hdds.

my boot racer says 30 + 5 sec
its needs 30sec from start to enter windows.
but once enter windows 5 sec

might solve your ssd problem. maybe it's just poorly optimized or you didn't install it 'properly'


as for your mouse problem...
might be your hdd spoiling
or memory problems
or malware?

if malware your reformat should solve it
run memtest to see if your ram sticks got problem

Im not sure if I read this post properly. But am I right when you said you didn't format your OS harddisk/ssd?

meaning you are using the same OS harddisk drive/SSD to work on your new computer?


if that's the case, the reason why its taking long time to load is most likely because its loading all the drivers of the old computer hardware.


Just get either a DVD or a USBdrive of windows 7. Do a clean windows install on your SSD(of course get data and transfer to your other HDD).


When you finish installing a clean windows:
In your bios, Set your Bootable drive to your SSD then disable the rest from being bootable harddisk.


note: make sure your sata is set to AHCI for better performance.

nono.. the ssd is new.. i installed the OS on that..
the other 2 hdd are old..
its is set as the first bootable drive..

ohhh okay. Looks like a really complicated problem.

When you first installed a fresh OS at that time, how was the booting up speed? okay or already sluggish at that time?

in the meantime, maybe try updating bios since you are using Ivy bridge

the first few days the boot up speed was super... but then some how later on... like 1 week later or something.. the speed became slow...

..problem lay with ur old hdd..as hdd with bad sectors could cos the boot up to be extremly slow..best way to try..remove hdd left ur ssd onli and try the booting up

and btw..when u get ur system fix at my place??if u need parts to test it out..feel free to bring it down or can give me a sms and i see if able to arrange for pick up at ur area and i bring back to shop to test..but from exp..slow boot up and random hang...could be due to bad block in hdd...and ur page files could be set under the old hdd as well..which explain the random hang
