After 4.5yrs, time to bid my dead w3520 goodbye.

For processor which shld i get?
4460? Xeon e3? 4690?

Ssd - crucial mx100 or corsair force lx?

Using it for surfing net, playing FM, uwo, wow, etc. Dun usually play Fps games.

Thanks! Totally lost touch with the processors/ IT stuffs now

For your games, i3 4150 can already. No need Xeon. GPU more important in determining game performance.

Most games out there do not even use hyperthreading. An i7 is the closest to your Xeon, but it is pointless to spend that much money on a processor feature that does not help improve gaming performance. If you want some form of futureproofing, then get an i5 4460.

Ya, initially looking at xeon or 4690, but i guess 4460 is the best value given my battered bank acc lol. Most prob pair it up with a asus z97m plus.

Is it worth paying 20 more for a force lx over a mx100?

E3 Xeon also got many type. Got i3 Xeon, got i5 Xeon, got i7 Xeon, even got Pentium Xeon. And then of course you have the monster E5 Xeons

Get Crucial. Crucial itself is the manufacturer. Corsair is just a package-&-rebrand product

1) The performance of both SSDs are almost the same with good read performance and not so good write performance. Just get the cheaper one.

2) Nonono, if you are not doing OC, you do not need an Asus Z97 mobo. Motherboards nowadays have similiar build quality across brands and chipsets and buying an Asus Z97 is not guranteed to last you a decade. Just get a MSI B85-G41 PC Mate or an Asrock H81M-HDS (if your budget is really tight) and do your wallet a favor.

Please do note that ITX components have a price premium over M-ATX components and think about your poor wallet before making a decision.

Hmmm....
Since you like the design of Asus's motherboards, how about the Asus H81M-A? It is also pretty budget friendly as it is only about $10+ more expensive than the Asrock H81-HDS. Do note that the Asus motherboard in question does not have any PCI slots.

Thanks :) Its ok, i dun have any other PCIE cards other than my GFX LOL :p.

Now considering the H81M-A or the Plus (mini itx). Both looks similar to me in terms of specs/functions other than the size diff. Casing only the elite 120 if i wan mini-itx. Silverstone n jonbo (look nice) but cant fit a 6970 :(
