Hi friends,

I've posted this in another forum, but all I've received are people dissing both myself and Apple. I've since removed that post because there is no point and hope that this is a better place to post and I can get some real advice.

I bought my MacBook Pro in Aug in 2011 when I matriculated. It came with OS X Snow Leopard, and a free upgrade to Lion. Bought 3 years of AppleCare, expires next August.

All was great and good, until around July 2012.

For no reason whatsoever, the computer started beeping. It beeps 3 times in a row, and then the computer would freeze.

Long story short, the computer could not turn on, the service centre told me need to replace hard disk. They said my hard disk corrupted, and they could recover close to nothing. I had to pay a professional $400 to recover all my data, photos, and documents.

Thereafter, I've had multiple issues with the computer, and have sent it in many, many times. I've also called Apple service many, many times.

Repairs done so far:
1) Replaced logic board + hard disk
2) Replaced logic board (again)
3) Replaced Magsafe port on the laptop

Now, my computer shuts down erratically without warning. I've called them and performed all the software things that they asked me to, but it still has this problem.

They've asked me to send it to the service centre once again. And I told them that I wanted them to replace the laptop as I must have received a lemon. I've made at least 20 calls to them over the last one year, and made at least 8 visits to the service centre.

I'm frustrated and angry. This has caused me extreme inconvenience, considering that I only have one laptop, and I have to bring it to school almost everyday. After each problem is fixed, another one crops up within weeks.

To make matters worse, they told me to send it in to check the battery. If it is defective, they will replace it for me free. If it has been "consumed" (which appears to be blaming the customer), I will have to pay for it, even though I am covered by AppleCare.

I believe that I have the right to get my laptop replaced. I have had much disruption from sending in and being put on a waiting list because of many customers.

Friends, please advise me how should I go about doing this. The senior manager that I spoke to seems adamant in not replacing the laptop despite all that I have told him. I really cannot any more time to go to the centre. What happens if another problem crops up after one is fixed?

I've heard that 3 major repairs can warrant a replacement. Is that true? Also, I need to know what else I can do.

Please advise me on what I can and should do.

Thank you.

Email Tim Cook.
That's what I did and got my replacement within 1 week.
The senior managers from Australia really CMI.
Be sure to tell the truth though, because they won't help you if you're ********ting.

Regarding the battery, if the diagnostic test for the battery fail, it will be replaced with no question asked. Whether it has been consumed depends on the complaint and the diagnostic test.

I have a hunch it could be due to the logic board issue.

Sometimes, short circuit can also cause such issue when the technician did not assemble properly.

I would suggest you asking for a change in logic board, RAM and hard disk. The ribbon cable for the trackpad has to be changed to ensure all faults are isolated.

If you are from NUS, forget about the service centre in school because it has nearly no positive reputation. Send your computer to bigger established outlets like eServe in town for better quality of workmanship.

If you need further help, you can PM me..
