[Need Advice] Building a PC budget $2000

Hi everyone,

It has been awhile since I last built my own PC so a bit out of touch.
Preferred budget would be $1600 but can go up to $2000.

Intended uses of the PC:
(1) play FFXIV Stormblood and Overwatch on Max settings, 1080p and 60 FPS.

(2) May consider having a dual monitor setup to do work (MS word, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign) on one monitor and game on another but is not essential. Currently have Dell U2414H and Dell SE2717H monitors.


Looking at the PC themes pricelist, I was intending to get the following:

AMD Ryzen R5-1600 + MSI B350M Mortar | $478
Corsair LPX 2400Mhz 8GB x 2 | $199*
MSI GTX 1070 8GB Armor OC | $689**
Samsung EVO 850 250GB SSD | $159
Seagate 1TB Barracuda 7200RPM| $72
EVGA G3 Series 550W | $159***

* PC Themes listed this under “AMD Ryzen DDR4 RAM”, is there a difference from other RAM?
** Not sure if MSI is good or others may be better. Actually, I was considering the MSI RX 580 8GB but I thought the GTX1070 is worth paying a bit more for the gain in performance?
*** Is this enough to power the entire system?
**** Prefer cases with a simple design and easy cable management.

Any suggestions/advice?

I am just going to try and list the same items from Bizgram cuz this from PC Themes looks expensive somehow.
Don't have MSI Motor so let's go with similar Gigabyte Gaming 3
No EVGA too, so let's go with FSP Hydro G. RAM, LPX 3000 and 2400 Ram are both $199 at Bizgram...

For FFXIV Stormblood (I wanna play Red MAGE so BAD!), 1080p at 60fps can easily be achieved by RX570 or GTX 1060. Hack, my Ryzen R7 + R9 Fury which is just a bit faster than 1060 runs current Havenward at 60~80 fps at 3440x1440!

* Those listed under amd is guaranteed by corsair to work with Ryzen build as Ryzen is a little sensitive to type of rams to be used. If possible, get higher speed. Due to Ryzen architecture, higher speed ram will benefit overall performance.

** MSI is good but more expensive. Look for gpu online. Zotac especially, 2+3 years warranty upon registration and cheaper. Could get it at $500 if there's $100 coupon. Lazada having one soon. Go check it out.

*** Yes. Google "Outervision psu calculator" to confirm for yourself.

**** Get the Define Mini C instead. mATX motherboard inside an ATX casing looks empty and weird.

I want to play Red Mage too (coming from Machinist)! But I don't have any caster classes more than 50 so no gear lol

According to WCCFtech,

at 1080p, 1070 at max settings can easily handle the benchmark.

no sweat for 1440p too.

No wifi for most matx. Get a wifi PCIE card or a USB wifi.
