Hey beautifuls, its gonna be my first time building a rig and I will appreciate any advices/suggestions you guys got. (I think I'm on the correct forum right?) It's going to be mostly for gaming.

CPU: i5-4690K
MOBO: Deciding between GIGABYTE Z97-D3H ($215), MSI Z97S SLI PLUS ($200) and ASUS Z97 - K ($227).
GPU: MSI GTX 970 GAMING 4G ($486) or Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming 4GB GDDR5 ($508)?
RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY 8GB Kit (2x4GB) 1866MHz DDR3
PSU: Corsair CX Series 600 Watt ATX/EPS Modular
SSD: Intel 520 Series Solid-State Drive 120 GB SATA 6 Gb/s
Harddisk: WD BLUE 1TB
Casing: Not yet decided but the NZXT Phantom 410 mesmerises me

Planning to purchase the GTX 970, RAM, SSD and PSU from Amazon which would cost me around $850. Is this worth it?
The rest planning to get from TradePac. Concern here is will the PSU watts be enough? Is Intel SSD reliable or should I get a Crucial? As for GPU, which is actually better? And is Tradepac.. reliable?

All the kor kors if got better suggestions, please feel free to speak up! Appreciate it.

Reallocate your budget properly before buying anything.

Whats your budget to begin with?

With proper budget allocation, you can save up more, and also furthermore get a bigger SSD.

You need to see what you want in the PC. What is it that you are doing other than gaming.

Are you planning to overclock the PC? Are you planning to go dual graphics in the long run? If so are you willing to spend on a higher res monitor?

Since you are getting an unlock cpu with a z97 mobo then it seems you will be overclocking. Remember to allocate budget for a cpu cooler then.

1) Name all software that you are using with this rig.

2) Are you overclocking?

3) Are you really OK with having no local warranty on the items that you are buying from Amazon?

Budget would be around 1.5k. After doing my homework, the hardware I'm getting would cost around $1450 in total. As for budget allocation I'm not sure bro. I've done some research and it seems most of the components I've picked are more reliable. In a sense that they will "last long". I am taking it as an investment of 4-5 years for a desktop.

I've thought about overclocking, but that would be like in the future? Cause I was contemplating on whether to purchase the unlocked one or not. As for dual graphics, I'm not too sure.

Mostly AAA games from Steam. I will not be doing any video rendering. As for overclocking, it will be in the future. And you're right with that, gonna contact Amazon on the products' warranty details.

Then most likely you wont be needing overclocking anytime soon. No point buying an unlocked CPU and running stock now and waiting for a few years then try overclocking. Waste potential and by then you dont even know whether does your chip have been degraded over time.

There is no such thing as it will "Last Long". The days of PC reliability no longer been like in the past that which brands are the most reliability. It is more of a luck game. There are people whom bought high end boards from different brands still ended up dead within a few months. Some worse arrived DOA.

Remember that spending more does not equate to long lasting, nor does it means future proofing.

1.5k with proper budget reallocation and a little premium here and there.

MSI H97 Gaming 3 + i5-4460 ~ $393
Gskills Ripjaws 1600mhz 2x4gb kit Red ~ $113
WD Blue 1tb ~ $68
Crucial m550 256gb ~ $155
MSI GTX970 4gb Twin Frozr Gaming Edition ~ $555
Superflower HX600 600w 80+ Gold Semi PSU ~ $98
Xigmatek Odin ~ $99
LG DVD Drive ~ $21

Total ~ $1502. Buy at tradepac. DIY
