Need advice for AMD rig

Hi bros, seeking your opinions on the parts that I'm intending to get.

CPU + MOBO - FX-8350 + Asus M5A97 EVO
RAM - G.skill ripjaws-x 1866mhz 4gbx2pcs CL9
HDD - WD blue 1TB
GPU - HD7870
PSU - FSP 550w silver raider
Casing - (thinking of reusing CM centurion 5)
ODD - reuse old one
OS - Win 7 home premium

Looking at around $1300 for budget. (based on Pc theme's pricelist)

Probably the most demanding game would be resident evil 6 at 1080p.
Dont need monitor, speakers and other peripherals.

Not planning to overclock for now, maybe in the future might drop in a cooler and try slight OC.

Pls advise if this build is ok ?

Y u dun wan to use ssd? Get the plextor m5s 128GB. It's worth it.

For HDD u might wan to consider WD black if u dun wan to use ssd.

Which 7870 r u getting? Cos got many different models.

For psu I highly recommend Thermaltake 520W. Fully modular and cheap.

Didnt consider SSD because not too bothered by the longer boot up ?

Whats the advantage of getting WD black ? does it make alot of difference?

for 7870 looking at SAPPHIRE HD 7870 GHz Edition OC 2GB GDDR5. or any other recommendations?

Get the power colour 7870 myst, its a downgraded tahiti chip, but faster than 7870 itself.

Black wun make much diff frm blue, just that it can 'tahan' more. Blue is mainly for storage, and black is for performance, though ssd still beat it all. If you can, do add in a 128gb ssd for OS, impt applications and maybe 1-2 games.

SSD not only affect ur boot up time, but the time taken to open chrome, microsoft office, etc.. Can have a difference.

ssd allows you to load things really fast not only for fast boot.

trust me SSD is worth it.

for gpu, just like what others recommended go for powercolor 7870 myst, performance worth every penny.

psu get thermaltake smart SE 530.

WD announced a new batch of HDD the performance of black is slightly faster than blue. Blue is just normal HDD, i'm currently using one. when opening files or applications its a bit slower as compared to ssd. unless ur budget very tight, otherwise get a 128gb ssd.

Hi bro, getting ssd is worth it. Even nowsadays the games need to load faster. Also I recommend 7870 myst. I'm using right now n no regrets cos almost every game I use ultra settings not a problem though I used amd x720be too. Btw may I ask where are u getting amd 8350 and motherboard? Almost every shop either doesn't carry or is very expensive. Thanks.

Edit: sorry just saw u put pct as the shop.

SSD - Make everything more responsive.
HDD - Storage just get a WD green. Black is not worth it now. Save that diff for other things.

Haha. It's slightly better built, and have a much higher MTBF. WD have them longer warranty period, coz they not scared.

Ah. I see. Mild OC for the 8350 and a single GPU setup then just get a 600w PSU will do.

Tradepac have the mobo. But CPU I don't think so. But they will pull stocks from other stores if you are serious in buying to give you a bundle price.

BTW their am3+ mobo is not listed on pricelist. But at shop they do have it.

They can get for you if you're serious about buying from them. If want buy additional fans, go Cybermind/PCT/Nigel's shop. Any fans you can find in Tradepac are just plain noisy
