Is it better to take Shinjuku-Hakone or Shinjuku-Fuji Q. Will be spending 2 nights in hakone and not sure which place to visit first, hakone round course or fuji q highlands. Any advice will be highly appreciated...

Assuming you stay all the way till Fuji Q closes, it'll be very by the time you get to Hakone. Not sure how far is it but you may not want to travel to 2 places on the same day.

initial plan is to go hakone and do the round course, next day then go to fuji q from hakone. just not sure how long is the travel time from hakone-fuji q and back to hakone where i will be staying..2nd option is to go fuji q from shinjuku and go to hakone for my hotel then next day will be the hakone round course...

if you do hakone on the first day, you can deposit your luggage at your accommodation before heading off to do the round course, which would take just a few hours, and you have the rest of the day to enjoy your hotel/ryokan stay (assuming you set off from shinjuku early in the morning). you wouldn't have the luxury to do either if you went direct to fujikyu highland from shinjuku.

so, i would do shinjuku-hakone-fujikyu highland-hakone-shinjuku(?) if i were you.

FujiQ is notorious for its long queue (at least from what i read online), if you can't get express passes be prepared to queue 1-2 hours for each ride
And the only way to get the limited-circulation express passes is to buy them shortly after the park opens

My personal 1.5 days trip out of tokyo in Dec is as such

Day 1
Shinjuku -> Hakone (Morning to afternoon)
Hakone -> Kawaguchiko (Stay in Kawaguchiko)

Day 2
Checkout -> Kawaguchiko (camp 0.5 hours before opening)
I will be buying express passes for the big 3 rides (i will queue for the first big ride) so i can wrap up and head back to Tokyo by 1pm
