Need advice in upgrading

Hi all,

Recently just bought the LG 34UC97 monitor. Realize that my current 7950 doesn't support display port that I need to run at the 60Hz.

Can someone recommend me a graphic card that support display port and a noticeable performance upgrade from my current graphic card.

Budget is around $500 and below.

I think for that price, a R9 290x would be the best bet.
