Hi all,

I need some advice on matters related to database.

Let's say I need to search for a particular customer who called in, and told us they are from ABC Company, engaged our services in 2012 before etc.

Also, we need to search for free manpower among our staffs who are free on Fridays and live on the Eastern part of Singapore.

What kind of software is best to store these data and pull out all the related queries? And how much is it?

Kindly advise.

Thanks.

Any freely available RDBMS would be able to do what you wanted. But being a database system, it normally don't function by itself to provide you with nicely formulated interface where you select and click to query what you wanted.

Your easiest approach is to use Microsoft Access to store such information and program uses forms in it to help give you the power for query without resorting to SQL.

You may also simply use Excel to help you keep track manually, or hire SI to help you create a n Excel workbook that can have some sort of automation and query functionality.

If you are adventurous, you may also use software like OrangeHRM (I search under "Opensource Resource Management" in Google) to help you manage your human resources. Could be an overkill, I wouldn't know.

The cost is virtually free if you are hosting the software in your existing infra, if not, you will need to cost in the necessary infra cost.

Perhaps even Google Calendar can already do this for you. Just put in the calendar who is doing what job schedule and you will know who else is freely available.
