Need to move about FOr 2 persons with 3 medium check in luggage from St pancreas station,
what to take note when Using UBER app (compare to Grab) or other ride apps are better?

I usually don't take Uber as it's quite expensive in London. If the luggage consists of three medium-sized suitcases (around 28–29 inches each), it should be manageable for two adults to travel by train, but this really depends on personal preference.
  • Vehicle Type: Be sure to select a car that can fit your luggage. Options like "UberXL" or "Comfort" are better for extra space.
  • Pricing: Uber in the UK usually charges based on time and distance, and prices can surge during peak hours. You’ll see the estimated fare before confirming the booking.
  • Payment: Payments are done automatically through the app using your linked credit/debit card or PayPal – no cash option by default.
  • Pick-up Location: St Pancras Station can be busy, so double-check the pick-up point in the app. It may guide you to a nearby designated area for ride-hailing services.

Bath is excellent over-night stay choice... can drop by Stonehenge on-route... dun be underwhelmed when you see it... it is a lot smaller than one would have imagined... but be in awe of the history and achievement by medieval pple that can built such monument 5000yrs ago...

Can also drop by Wells... England smallest city... but very nice to just walk around... can easily covered their castle, cathedral and market in half a day...

Actually I find driving to rural areas the best way to explore UK... very easy to drive also... and these rural areas got the best Bed and Breakfast... their hosts usually old couples that are very hospitable... nice cushy beds... and morning they cook authentic Full English Breakfast for you... all for 20pounds... 25yrs ago!

Last time me and my group of friends will just rent a car... with no itinerary no accommodation booking... bring along a map (last time no google map) and just drive in the direction we want... along the way just look at the map and see got wat attractions nearby... when sky turns dark drive into some small town to look for BnB...

Its good to be young and adventurous...

What about Kent , Canterbury , Dover?
Also in UK driving need IDP?
Which rental is the better ones, price vs fleet.
I defo need a child seat too

Tks

Actually all these small towns/cities are mostly castles and cathedrals as main attractions... unless you are looking for something specific? King Arthur's birthplace... Shakespear hometown... But each has its own charm...

Dover nothing much... but you can take a ferry across to France to buy nice wine in bulk... remember to declare when you come back and pay the appropriate taxes...

During my time no need IDP... can just show SG driving license... but that time me studying there so not sure if there is a concession for students?

Rental wise... Last time we always used EasyCar... or Hertz... coz it is nearer to where we stay... just do your comparison online...

lol you already got places in mind why didn’t you state it upfront?

If your license not in English then need IDP.

Rental just go to the different websites to compare? Cause this sort of thing so varied.

Off the top of my head, tolls can be paid by mobile payment at the barrier. In any case, there are not many toll roads in Britain that you will come across. Google. The amenities are the same as in Malaysia. They don't use palm petrol too.

so along the highway there should have toilets like NS highway as total drive is around 2 hrs.. so need at least one toilet break

Why don't you dive deeper into your research on "motorway service areas on the A2"? An alternative is to see for yourself using Google Map' Streetview. Example.

Those single digit M and A roads are major highways... M will definitely have some big rest stops in btw major cities... though they may skip some smaller cities/towns... Single digit A are major roads connecting various cities/towns to London... so along the way will likely have some petrol stations or convenient stores... can use their toilets... if dun have just exit to the nearest town for a quick stop... With google/apple maps... not hard to navigate...

Try not to drive at night... got many parts of their roads are unlit even at night... take a bit to get used to if driving long distance... a bit scary if no other cars on the road...

Also take note that UK their older cars speedometers main display might still be in mph rather than km/h... so dun drive until 100 thinking it is 100 km/h... newer cars should be able to switch the units or got dual display... but their speed limits are all in mph... so easier to just stick to mph...

There are not many toll roads in UK... at least not during my time... can pay cash at the toll gate...

I think most if not all car rental will require you to refuel the tank to full upon returning the car...

I think I'm thinking of 2 Nights in Dover..
So maybe will drive ( on the way ) via Canterbury ( break )
and also Seven Sisters ( Birling Gap - short hiking). what do you guys think?

some Q about parking? The Birling Gap requires Ringo App, just need to tag a credit? Anything else need to take note. Tks

last time I was in London didn't drive not sure how it works.

Also it seems like staying to Dove also not so recommended.. I researched

For a 2-night stay to visit Canterbury Cathedral, Dover Castle, and the Seven Sisters, it's generally recommended not to stay in Dover itself if you want a more pleasant town as a base.

Summary:

TownProximity toNotes
CanterburyDover Castle, 30 mins; Seven Sisters ~90 minsHistoric city, good amenities, good base for Dover and Canterbury visiting
Eastbourne / SeafordSeven Sisters, near South DownsBest for Seven Sisters, coastal town charm
Lewes / AlfristonSeven Sisters and South DownsQuaint countryside villages ideal for hiking and nature
