hi all,

Please advise on motherboard and GPU. Budget max $2k:

CPU: Intel i7 6700 (I want i7 but not overclock)
RAM: DDR4 G-Skill RipJaws 2400 CL15 8GBx2
HDD (OS & Game): Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD SATA3

Options on Motherboard (Don't want the old PCI slots)
1. MSI Z170A Gaming M5, or
2. Asus H170 Pro gaming

Asus H170 Pro gaming only support 2133MHz RAM. Will it be a problem?

Options on GPU:
1. Sapphire Nitro R9 380X 4G DDR5 (Tonga chip)
2. Asus 970 Strix 4GB DDR5

Worth to get GTX970 though has the 3.5GB vram problem?

I already have the following:
Casing:Fractal Design Define R4 Black Pearl Windows
Audio Card: Creative Sound Blaster Z
PSU: Corsair RM650W 80+ Gold Modular
LCD: Dell U2414H

Get the following:-
Asus H170 Pro gaming - Then just get 2133Mhz ram then... even if u get the 3000Mhz in real life u cant feel the difference.

Asus 970 Strix 4GB DDR5 - 3.5Ram boh tai chi one rah.. Singapore very hot already

Netflix & 1080p movies
Steam - FPS games

hmmm for all those I would say an i5 is more than enough actually

in fact you can even get away with an i3 lol (but I would go for an i5 quad core)

it would bring down the cost of your setup greatly, and allow you to look at an even better GPU

There is no issue running the ram on Asus H170 Pro gaming, but using this mobo you will not able to overclock your ram.

You can save some money by getting Corsair Vengeance LPX from Amazon. They offer free shipping to SG for purchase USD$125 and above.

If the game you play won't hit 3.5gb, there should not be any problem.

Don't get rm. It's pretty bad for what you're paying. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

If buying strictly local. Superflower gold / seasonic g/x coolermaster v/vs. At that price point would be better.

If you don't mind bronze. Seasonic M12 evo 620 at bizgram for 112 pretty solid bang for buck.

Edit: realised you don't need a psu, sorry. But if you somehow had the option, this might be helpful.
