Need advice on my New PCs setup

Hi Guys, currently building 2 PC for my work and I need some advise to make sure I dont overbuy.

First PC will be for mainly Autocad usage, I will be using some old parts.

Second PC will be for Autocad, 3D rendering. Not sure if a i7 processor is too much, and will the 8gb ram be enough?

PC1 is alright if you wish to have a low powered budget PC.

For PC2, if you are going with i7-8700, go for a better motherboard with better VRM or else your CPU might not perform at it's peak due to not enough watts into the CPU. Try go for B360 or H370 for an i7-8700.

Also do go with 2* 8GB RAM. at least 16GB. For dual channel mode.

would still think that best u stick to intel for the time being, as i have not sure if those software u using are doing well with new ryzen or not, but if the software company did update with support of ryzen, i think its still alright to go with it.

Autocad/3DS Max, I used these before. If this pc is for engineering purpose, go with Intel. To see Ryzen support is almost impossible, given how the softwares on engineering sector evolve in years. My suggestion is go with Intel, it may not be the most optimized like 3D Mark softwares, but at least, those software are built based on Intel platform nonetheless.

Also, the high boost and clock on Intel without needing to overclock, is a peace of mind to get. Basically, paying to not tinker, though one can argue how much more worth AMD R5 2600X in comparison with i7-8700 but as I mentioned above, it's about peace of mind and how engineering softwares are built and updated around Intel platform instead of AMD.

I don't understand. If you are doing so much graphics, 3D and animation related work (ALL rendering), then why aren't you using a Quadro Workstation GFX card optimised for such applications?


There is a significant difference in the rendering speed for such applications.


You get a GTX consumer line if you are the gamer or just want multiple monitors.


Price may be on the high side but the Quadro Workstation cards are built for it. Seriously do consider...

You are not wrong but it depends on software on how well they utilize your GPU prowess. I suggest you Google the stuff you use with the graphic card you wanna buy, see if anyone bump into any issue or is the GTX cards perform with better price-to-performance ratio.

Well I do agree Ryzen supposedly have no issue running them. Coz I'm one of them who uses Ryzen running engineering softwares as well. Haha

But I'd usually just recommend what others most confident for.
