Hi all, recently hand itchy and bought new graphic card and monitor so im thinking might as well build a new rig :s13:

Currently i have a 3 yrs old rig with the following spec:
i5 3550
gigabyte Z77-D3H
g.skill 2x4gb ram
620w PSU (forgot what brand)
Msi gtx 970 gaming
Intel 240gb ssd
1tb hdd
nzxt 210

Will be reusing my graphic card and ssd and keep the rest as a functional set.

Can help to recommend parts for the rest of the components with budget of $1k? Will not be overclocking and playing gta 5, witcher 3 currently.

Prefer a red black theme to go with my graphic card. Casing in mind is fractal design r5 with window. Should i go for 16gb ram cause im running dual monitor and has a habit of opening alot of chrome tab.

Any advice is much appreciated :)

Your hand too itchy already

But if your hand still itchy

i5-4460 + MSI H81M-E35 @368
Strontium 2x8GB DDR3-1600 @148
WD Blue 1TB @72
Samsung DVD Drive @21
Seasonic M12-II 620W @115
Fractal Define R5 @159
Total 883

Still got room to play with :s13:

Cuz 3 yrs liao so I thought its old enough to change. my previous graphic card cant handle gta 5.

Your setup should be 4 yrs and counting right. Time to change too la :s13:

i rather you add better cooling and OC.

Thanks for the suggestion but not really into overclocking.

try OC, its time to have more fun with less money lol...

since they are old why not "break" them? you can save up more money meanwhile

Thanks all for the advice. Think ill put off my plan for now since it is not quite worthwhile to go for a new rig. Will venture into OCing my cpu to last me for another yr or 2.

What kind of cooler would your suggest then? Is Cm Hyper 212 enough?

No need liao, you are stucked. :o

Current Haswell-refresh is just 1 (small) gen ahead of your Ivy Bridge CPU. Nothing worth to upgrade unless you are feeling really rich (which we sensed you are). :s13:
