Need advice on old laptop

I got an old laptop that is very old like 5 year old liao and i want to use it to make my tv smart,connect hdmi then can watch online video
But then the laptop is very lag and slow, using window 10 with 4GB RAM
Any advice on how can make it faster?? It is use mainly for watching video
Should i change OS if so which one should i use?

Clean install Windows 10 and install only the essential apps like anti-virus, anti-malware, etc. Install O&O ShutUp10 tool to disable Microsoft 10 "spy" services and apps.

Can consider installing Kodi if you're into watching streaming video.

Buy an external hard disk and store all your treasures inside it. After that reformat your laptop and reinstall windows (preferable Win7) again.

Press Ctrl + Alt + Del and kill tasks or programs that are redundant. Alternatively you can go to Sim Lim for hunt for a second hand RAM... upgrade it to 8GB and it should not lag.

Surely you should know by now that Win10 "spy" on your activities and send these data back to MS.

install windows 7. i had a pentium 4 laptop i stalled windows 10 very slow. change to 7 is useable
