Hi guys,

this is my first time building a computer. need advice on the parts i have chosen. the computer is mainly for gaming. titles like far cry, shadow of modor, dota2 and overwatch for now. will be playing on 1080p cos this is the monitor i have currently. want the computer to be able to play at higher setting when i eventually upgrade my display. so heres the list:

cpu: i5-6600
mobo: asus h170 pro gaming (saw lots of good review on this board. need advice on mobo selection!:s22:)
ram: gskills ripjaws v 2400mhz 8gb x2
ssd: samsung 850 evo 500gb
hdd: toshiba 1TB 3.5"
gpu: palit gtx1060 6gb sjs
psu: SF leadex silver 550W (prefer a f.mod psu)
casing: cosair 400c atx (saw on youtube. this is a beauty :))

got a quotation and this cost about 1700sgd. wondering if you guys got any advice on this build and if possible bring down the price abit more. current cost is around my budget. would prefer to lower to 1600sgd though. very unsure on the mobo, not sure how different mobo will affect the performance.

new on posting, hope i post in the right thread.
thanks guys.

I not as pro as money face etc but I feel u can cut down on CPU and mobo since u not ocing

I5 6500
B150 motherboard (the MSI motar seems to be the favourite here)
Cheapest 8gb ram that is your favourite color
Ssd no need Samsung. Normal brand u have heard of (e.g adata/transcend/sandisk etc) is sufficient
Gfx rx 480 at 199.99 USD (must wait awhile) if ure ok with red camp

Prolly can shave off 300 ish

u can change these parts to these:

i5 cpu can change to 6500
rams if dun need those fancy one can get kingston,g.skill, curial should cost around less than 50 for 1 stick of 8GB
ssd u can consider zotac T500 480GB or maybe zotac preimum SSD 480GB (cant rmb how much but definitely cheaper.
casing maybe can consider others?

so overall u should be around 1.5~1.6

as for mobo im not sure if u are alright with B150 series or H110 series (budget but with basic features.)

beside that im not sure will u be doing any future upgrades like adding another sli gpu.

What are diff between b150, h110 and h170 mobo? And any good mobo for the the different chips to recommend?
I read somewhere 6600 is a better chipset. Performance of 6600 worth the price increment from 6500? Shld check on the zotac ssd.

6600 is more worth than 6500

Don't be fooled by the 3.3ghz vs 3.2ghz base clock, because it will be running at turbo 4-core 100% of the time, which gives 3.6ghz vs 3.3ghz
