Need advice on tw itinerary

Hello guys, we are travelling on a vvvv last minute trip to tw this coming Weds (we just bought tickets last Saturday lol) and I need advice regarding out itinerary.

We are flying to Taipei on 11th and will arrive at 3pm. We will fly back on 17th 2pm.

Here's what we plan to do (I think too ambitiously):



Day 1- Taipei

Day 2 - Taipei

Day 3 - Hualien (taipei to hualien high speed train) and then possible to cover Taroko in the same day? If not next day.

Day 4 - Taroko

Day 5 - jiufen shifen keeping night market (Hualien to ruifang high speed train) stay one night at jiufen

Day 6 - yeliu, danshui and back to taipei

Day 7 - fly back

Is this doable? Should I take out a location? Travelling with my grandma.

Appreciate advice pls.

Please note, trains to hualien, please buy on arrival when you are in Taiwan.
Since traveling with an old folk, take it slow.

For taipei to Hualien tickets, I read that they are always sold out but I'll still be able to get them over the counter?

As for Hualien, am I better off getting a driver for the entire taipei - Hualien - jiufen - taipei leg of the trip or get a driver only at Hualien?

Also, any recommendations for driver from tpe to xmd? I've been quoted 1.2k for 5 pax. Do we actually need a driver?

Yes. Chances are sold out if you do not buy ahead.
If you ask me about driver, depends on your budget.
1.2k for taipei taoyuan international airport to Xmd for 5 at that price, i find it acceptable.
But i thought u going with Granny only. Now become 5 pax.

Be it Fri or Sat, you need to book ahead.
Buying on the spot means you may be separated.
At worse no ticket.
Boarding without no proper ticket, risk fine of 50%.

And furthermore cross Taiwan from East to West is through mountains.
Last min trip, go easy la.
Of course your consideration is your granny.
And whether the rest of 3 pax will be sharing with you the cost.
Also cannot expect your granny to pay right?

Day 3 - Hualien (taipei to hualien high speed train) It's TRA train not high speed train.
Day 5 Hualien to ruifang high speed train. Again, it's TRA train not high speed train.
Staying in juifen mean you need to do a lot of climbing of stairs, not recommended for old people. Can stay at keelung or Taipei.

Actually your first plan is ok, just change a bit will do.
Don't need to book driver, just DIY slowly. Certain part like juifen and shifen, you can book driver or get taxi cos a lot of walking and changing of transportation.

take the bigger cab, toyota wish ... should be able to take in 5 pax ...
one sit behind ... there's are many toyota wish taxi in taiwan ...

Book a driver/ private car/ taxi, price cover the whole journey, not only from hotel to hotel.
Taxi hire from rail station just like our sg cab. From point to point.
Taxi hire from rail station conduct simple tour and can send you back to rail station or hotel, price varies.

Yeah hwz used to have authentic recommendations (mostly) but now alot of them are just recommendations from people with 1 or 2 posts leg. Not v assuring haha.

Ya that's the problem lor 5 pax. 4 pax easy. Anyhow can hail cab
