need advice on weird pc issue

hi guys, specs as listed below.
i7 3770, asus p8z77-v pro/thunderbolt
kingston hyperx 1600mhz 8gb
wd 320gb sata drive
seagate 500gb
seasonic m12ii 520w
sapphire hd7850 2gb oc

i have this weird issue. i am able to use this pc on win 7 with no issues. however, when i upgraded to win 10, it will hang at the windows login page. tried with fresh clean installation does not help. tried on a different drive also does not help. did ram test all pass. bios also updated to the latest, amd driver tried the latest and the previous ver. does not work. tried different pci-e slot also don work.

what worked is that i install a fresh clean win 10 without the hd7850 driver. it works nv hangs. tried installing from amd website, hangs halfway during the installation. reimage back to default image without the hd7850 driver. change the graphic card to another similar 7850, reinstall, it hangs again. reimage back. update driver from windows website. this time, it did not hang. but when i do a restart it hangs at the windows login page. then i tried with an older gpu, 4770 with windows driver update. no issue no hang. it works. then reimage back to default image. put rx470 into the build, update driver either ways (windows update/amd website), it hangs during the installation.

any clue as to what is going on?

nope. isnt. its a first hand but bought quite some time back. only recently win 10 was announced a year ago..

did you tried this method from the amd forum?

NOTE: It's highly recommended to create a Restoration Point before you attempt the following steps.

1. Uninstall AMD Catalyst Control Center. For those with INTEL PROCESSORS, select Remove all AMD Software. For those with AMD PROCESSORS, uninstall only the Display Driver and the Catalyst Control Center.

2. If the driver wasn't removed; Uninstall the display driver manually by going to Start -> Right Clicking File Explorer -> Properties -> Device Manager. Go to Display Adaptors, right click the driver and select Uninstall.

3. Reboot your PC.

4. Download the latest Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 15.3.1.0 from Guru3D.com.

5. Reboot into Safe Mode. (Or try to execute the above program and it will ask if you wish to reboot into Safe Mode).

6. Run the DDU. Select "Clean and Restart".

7. Wait for it to do its job and your PC should restart.

8. Now, clean install your desired AMD Display Driver. (In my case, I reverted to 14.12 Omega and it's working perfectly well)!

yup. its installed. only tried to install win 10 mid last year.. in fact it wasnt mine.. its my friend pc.

Worst case scenario.. Your motherboard chipset is not "Windows 10 Ready".

Well it sounds like a crappy reason, but although your build exceeds the minimum specs for using Windows 10, probably the same "reason" that the latest Intel Kaby Lake 7000 series processor don't support any older Windows version other than Windows 10.

Don't know how to explain cos my knowledge in such in dept technical stuff is very limited. >.<

that could be the worst case scenario. but i can run win 10 on sandy bridge. so how to explain that irony?

Friend have a similar system with gtx 750 without any issue with win 10 leh.

2) unplug Ethernet cable or disconnect from the wireless
3) restart your system into safemode
4) check to make sure there is no AMD driver installed (sometimes microsoft will auto install the AMD driver when they detect it plugged in)
5) install the amd driver

yup. i too had a test bench with amd system with 7850. also no issue. only this particular setup got issue. which is strange..

hi. i tried your method alr. it will just hang at the installation part. with the newest or a version older. the only way not to hang is use windows update. but when restart it will hang at login page. so makes no diff.
