Need advice/recommendations for new Gaming CPU

Hey all,

Would appreciate it if I could get some recommendations from pros here on a gaming rig (as I'm a hardware newbie) with the requirements below:

Games to play: Any new games releasing in 2014, WoW, D3 RoS, Dark Souls, MMORPGs in general, preferably all in high settings
Budget: $1.2 - $1.4
Does not heat up too much, good cooling system
Decent looking casing, with USB ports in front of CPU
Prefer Nvidia cards (been using them only) and if available at SLS
Plan to go SLS show them the parts list from here, buy and ask them to set up (Include cost and shop name)
Do not need monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers. Need everything else

Nvidia cards are expensive. But since you wanna go for Nvidia cards.

1.4k can go for decent rig already.

Do you even need an overclocking cpu? And fyi if you like that chassis then its fine. Some have made comments that is the almost no wire management for that chassis.

You took out the ssd. Its a waste if you are taking it out. Ssd is better choice. With more response for the OS. Load time is fast and also brings you certain lead start in games giving you the upper hand.

I dont think overclocking improves much fps. Anyways, u will need a cpu cooler like the noctua d14 or the cosair h100i. It will set you back at least another $100

Maybe a 750D? But its at $220. The 350D counterpart is good as well, but only accepts mATX mobo.

I would rather he throw his $200 or so needed to make his system overclockable into a gtx 770.

Overclocking does not improve your overall gaming experience. The most a few fps differences only. Got to spend on a cooler also. If you got that whatsoever amount. Get you ssd and you gpu to a r9 280x or gtx770.

Hmm okay I thought overclocking does help gaming significantly. That means if I get a non overclocking motherboard and processor like the MSI B85M G43 and i5-4570 I won't need a CPU cooler?

Yes. The stock cooler is enough.

As long as you don't sli or crossfire, 500w is plenty.

Technically speaking yes it will be enough. R9 280X will be on a higher side for power consumption.

GTX760 will be lesser. If you wanna try AMD cards it will be good to go for the r9 280x. It is more powerful and it is of the same performance as GTX770. Pay less for more.

I know it is uncomfortable for people whom all the while prefer Nvidia cards to jump ship to AMD cards. But it is your choice.
