Need advice when to book air tics!

Me and my friends r planning a year end trip to tw after our final exams around late nov (26th onwards) to first week of dec. Being students, we r trying to keep the cost as low as possible haha. I was looking at jetstar and scoot, and i realised that both come to about the same price at $370 thereabout a few days ago when i checked.

May i know is it better to book earlier or wait for their promotion? cus their promotion tics are up to august now. I know for flag carriers the price gets increasingly more expensive as time goes by but does it apply for budget as well? Also, as we would be going during the peak season, would there even be a promo price?

really? last time my bro took china eastern to SK the prices went up from 400 to 500+ after 2 months

So far only see SQ and such coming up with promo & dropping their fares with dates nearby(Means like 1-2 weeks before departure kind)..

Anyway, once it hits the price that you're comfy with then go ahead and buy..Of cos it would be better if it's cheaper..

around 300+ if possible i guess. no issue with budget lol. in fact jetstar 1am / scoot 12am departure timing is more favorable, can utilise the first day more

yeah im guessing so lol, probably book soon before the prices crosses the 400 mark. btw off topic is the guesthouse NiHao good? Ive seen mostly positive reviews online and the place looks nicely renovated and they charge a reasonable rate of i think around 20-30USD a night

Have no personal experience with them but from a couple of ppl who have actually stayed with them before, the experience is not bad..

Or try something called Pig's home. An apartment that can host like at least 4 pax in a room. Think pricing will be around as what you have quoted.

Look out for promo if flying by budget airlines. when budget airlines with promo, the price compare with full flight one like not much diff.

You missed the recently Tiger fly back for free. I got it for $186 with tax included flying in Nov.

Scoot recently got 50% off. But price not that attractive.

Normally budget airline promo around 180+
You can also take transasia, sometimes they have promo for 390 two way net. Not budget airline

Budget airline that goes taipei direct flight are tiger, jetstar, scoot

few days ago i checked scoot has the 100th million passenger promo prices for december at one person almost $400. 2 days later i checked the priced increase about $100. only october and november remain the same. at least for some dates i checked.

Prices may go up as fewer and fewer seats are available.

Basically, the way budget airline works is very different from the commercial airline.

Yes, they do have promotion periodically. Unless stated at a fix frequency, if not, it is very hard to know WHEN do they have promotion.

However, looking at December, probably you won't get much of any promotion to most destinations. Therefore, it would be a risk with time.

In another words, assuming that particular flight has 100 seats. They will sell x number of seats at the cheapest price. Once they reach the BREAKEVEN point, they will increase their price, probably increasing the price at $x for every 10 seats. Sometimes, even to the extent of overbooking.

So based on your scheduled departure timing, my suggestion is, BOOK NOW.
