Need advice - which component is dead?

Hi guys,

Was assembling my new PC and managed to boot to BIOS. Once concluded that PSU, mobo, CPU, cooler and rams are working, I proceeded to assemble them into the casing.

Once assembled I powered on but it kept rebooting and unable to boot to BIOS. I tried reseating the rams, gpu, and out of a sudden it can't even be powered on, as in no response at all.

I troubleshoot with a spare pc and confirmed the PSU and power button are working. I've stripped down to cpu, cooler and 1 stick of ram and even replaced the CMOS battery - didn't work.

My conclusion is the mobo is dead. I've ran out of ideas and my mind is blocked, hopefully the experts here can provide a different view.

Ryzen 5 2600
Asrock B450 Pro4
Team T-Force Delta 2 x 8GB 3000
Radeon Vega 64
Evga 750W G3
ID Cooling auraflow 240 AIO

During the ryzen 1600 days there was some issue with ryzen series cpu whereby u have to let it run for awhile after it was first powered on

How do I check if anything is short to the case? Yes I'm using standoffs.

Try remove from casing and assemble outside?

Try reseat the cooler and cpu. Previously have boot loop on first boot, cannot go bios. Take out cooler, cpu, remount them steadily and don't tighten so hard. Settle the problem. For my chase.

Since it was working before assembling into the case, might as well balls to wall and take everything out, assemble them outside and test again.

Did you try putting the ram in different slots and try to power it up? For cooler, try using the stock cooler, there might be a chance where the fan header is faulty and decides not to boot to protect the CPU as it assumed there is no cooler.

Have you checked whether the power connector from casing to MB is loose?

If intact, you can try powering on by shorting the front panel power pins.

I even tried powering up without rams, it should at least power up right? Pls correct me if I'm wrong.

Good idea I'm gonna try using the stock cooler when I got more thermal paste.

In order for the system to boot, you must have these following.
1. cpu
2. motherboard
3. RAM module
4. onboard gpu or gpu card

In order for the system to boot, you must have at least 1 RAM module on the motherboard.

Ok, so i brought the motherboard to the distributor and it was tested fine.

I went back home, installed stock heatsink, 1 stick of ram, vega 64 gpu - cant power on.

Switched to another stick of ram, switched to my old gpu - no luck.

Tested psu again on old pc - working fine.

Removed heatsink and checked cpu - no bent pins.

I really have no idea what went wrong.
*i did notice the motherboard got a little warm and that's all.
Any advice?

Did u mixed up the PCIE psu cables for gpu and CPU psu cable? GPU cable is usually 6+2 whereas CPU cable is 4+4.

Thanks, i wish it was that too. The psu cables are labeled so it's hard to mix up. And like i mentioned, i plucked the same cables into my old pc and it worked fine.

I'll have to make another trip to test out the parts.

Just to update on this thread for the benefit of others. It's confirmed to be a CPU issue. Tried with another CPU and it booted.
