Need Advice with Gaming PC Build

Hi guys!
So my potato laptop that ran Overwatch at Low settings at 30fps finally died on me. I have never been much of a gamer and my experience with games aren't very extensive. However, I've played a lot of Overwatch recently and the quality of the game design made me feel like I should get a machine that can run the game well for me to enjoy it much more. As I have never even considered building my own PC until now, the prospect of choosing parts out seems daunting to me, especially given how I haven't the faintest idea on how to read specs.
I really only use the PC for Overwatch. No plans on streaming in the future. Also, I'm not sure if this has any effect but I am going to be attending Digipen in 2018, so a PC that can also be used for game development would be a bonus. The most crucial purpose for me however, is still being able to run Overwatch at as high of a quality as the price point allows.
The budget isn't strict and I'm happy to pay a few hundred dollars extra if it means a good value boost in performance.
I do need a monitor to be included in the price point however. :x
If my budget is too small for what I want to achieve, I'm open to suggestions on builds that could achieve the same purpose at a minimum price point above my budget.

Also, I saw the GTX1070 mini at 500 on Qoo10 which seems like a good starting point.

So what's your budget actually? Is 2k okay for you? Thinking you should invest more into a high refresh rate monitor as well if you're okay with it. Gtx 1070 can drive overwatch to >100fps with epic graphical settings.

Mmmm budgetwise I'm looking at maybe around 1.5k? It's mot strict though. More important to me is the cost-performance ratio. I'll gladly spend more if the performance improvement is worth it.

I bit the bullet on the 1070, so that settles the graphics card. Is it advisable to get 1 bigger SSD instead of 1 SSD + 1 HDD?

Monitor wise I'm thinking of a 144Hz one. The Acer 246GNL seems nice.
I was looking at an i5-7600K but someone recommended an i5-7500 instead. How do they differ?

Totally blur on what motherboard, power supply and RAM to choose @.@

PS: to the bro that PMed me regarding the GTX 1080, I couldn't reply you because I'm still under the post requirement. >.< 1080 seems quite overkill for what I'm trying to achieve.

144hz monitor is around $400-500 and your gpu $500 already. 1.5k budget for rig alone is okay, but with addition with the high refresh monitor, it will result in 2k. Hope your budget is okay with this.

1 ssd + 1 hdd is better. Reduce wear on ssd. Hdd is to store read and write stuff like your movies and music and random documents where you don't need high speed loading from ssd. Also, this setup reduce wear rate of the ssd.

Motherboard depends whether what processor you choosing. I'd suggest you take AMD Ryzen 5 1600 since you're venturing into game development and the R5 1600 is 6 core 12 threads. Hopefully it will aid you in your productivity tasks. For motherboard, if you choosing amd R5 1600, then asus b350 plus is not bad. Pair this with a 2666mhz or 3000mhz ram kit.

If this is all okay for you, I can make a specs list for your reference for purchasing.

Do you think I should wait for the IT Show to source for parts? Not sure how significant the savings will be. Sim Lim Square is a maze to me. I once got lost for 40 mins there trying to find a store thanks to the hundreds of corridors.

Sounds good! Grabbed a 250GB EVO850 off Lazada just now for 132.

For the motherboard, why is the Asus better compared to other B350 boards?

No particular reason. Personal experience. The layout of the slots of the mobo seems good to me too. But if you wish to change to another brand mobo, by all means go ahead as long as the budget suits you

I agreed. Do not buy the PC spare parts from the exhibitions. It is a waste of time and money.

Normally, the prices are jacked up slightly with either little discounts or no discount.

I mainly do light gaming like FIFA, GTA V and CSGO.

I'm looking at the following build:

CPU + MOBO: 1) Intel i5-7500 with MSI B250 Bazooka
2) Intel i5-7500 with ASUS B250C

RAM: Not sure whether to get a 2x 4GB or 2x 8GB Kingston Valueram 2133MHz

SSD: not sure whether the Samsung Evo 850 250GB or the Samsung Evo 850 M.2 250GB

HD: WD 1TB BLUE

GPU: Not sure whether to get the 1060 or 1070. Does the gpu matters if I want a 144Hz 1080p monitor?

Yeah same here too. There's no reason to get an i5 now. Ryzen R5 totally whacks it in value and just a slight performance behind i5 with more cores. That are what the reviews and you tubers are saying too. Check out the review and decide. Unless TS is die hard Intel fan.

B350 for AMD
B250 for Intel

The architecture is stable. The BIOS and micro codes are not yet optimized. Compared to when it first launch, it's pretty stable already. Only hardcore overclocking not really great. Hitting 2666 or 2933 mhz on the ram is almost no issue as long as the bios is up to date. The memory qvl list is pretty good now.

No way it's not stable unless you're gonna overclock it past 4.0/4.1ghz. If normal overclock to 3.6/3.7ghz on all cores, it's stable.

this looks perfect for Overwatch, it will also use all 6 cores of your 1600. Remember to not settle for a lower speed ram. Overwatch seems to like 3200 mhz rams . And to be honest, if you decide to play it seriously, youll be playing on low settings to get as much fps as you can and reduce distractions

You can get an aftermarket cooler like hyper 212 if you're worried about cpu temperature.

with GTX 1070, there is no need for him to play on low settings
average 100 fps and above for 1080p and 1440p
unless he playing on 4K.
