Need advice

Hi all, I'm planning a 7 days trip to 3 days taipei and 4 days taichung on mid Oct 15 with my family(2A1C0 and in-laws. Few questions to ask:

1) is it adviseable to go from airport to taichung,and then straight go to SML?
2) Or should i stay at taichung for 2 days, then proceed to SML for 1 night and another 1 night at Cingjing farm.
3) last 3 days ,from Cingjing back to taipei.

Based on the above schedule, is it too rush?

i landed at 6am and headed for taichung. can't sleep well on the jetstar flight so be prepared for a long day upon landing as you can't check in before 3pm.

for me i took hsr to taichung, cab to hotel near fengjia to check-in luggage, had breakfast nearby, bought easycard @ 7-11, took a bus to taichung station, went to rear station chunghwa to get simcard, went to carrefour at modemall, went to yizhong st, walked to paochueh temple to see buddha statue, then cabbed back to hotel and took 3 hrs nap, followed by fengjia night market for the evening.

Yes, it's advisable to go from Taoyuan airport to taichung after you arrived at airport. Thereafter, i feel you should head to either SML or Cingjing to stay for 1 night respectively before heading back to taichung to stay for 2 nights. Then head back to taipei.

Schedule is rushed but can be done. I would suggest skipping SML because there's nothing to do. Your family will enjoy cingjing more.

Same I can't sleep on throughout the plane on a midnight flight to taipei.
When i arrived at tao yuan airport, i opted for the Ubus to taichung. Then I get my driver to pick us up at Chao ma station at taichung to tour Xin She. It was a tiring day but worth it!

went hk few yrs back land 5am, cant sleep well on the flight, coz very bright and not comfortable ...
then hotel in hk also allow us to check in at 1pm...yeah, taipei hotel mostly is 3pm check in ...
so bo bian have to leave luggage at reception then go walk walk ...

Went cingjing after 3 days in taichung, asked driver to fetch us to yong he for breakfast then up to cingjing minsu to deposit bag, then dropped us at green green grassland. Next morn went for hehuanshan sunrise, slept 2 hrs, breakfast at minsu then okbus to taichung hsr then to taipei. Xionggggg ah!

Yes, it's advisable to go from Taoyuan airport to taichung after you arrived at airport. Thereafter, i feel you should head to either SML or Cingjing to stay for 1 night respectively before heading back to taichung to stay for 2 nights. Then head back to taipei.

Schedule is rushed but can be done. I would suggest skipping SML because there's nothing to do. Your family will enjoy cingjing more.

Yep! Cost for 4 will be cheaper per head. Both of us went up to cingjing cost nt2000 already. Another cheaper alternative would be Okbus, pick up from taichung hotel to cingjing minsu. But by the time you reach minsu, it's early afternoon already.

SML actually got a lot of china tourists and crowded.

Did u managed to catch the sunrise at hehuanshan?

the cingjing minsu i stayed has a clear unblocked view, so i waked up at 6am and waited till 7plus. When the sun finally breaks through the cloud, it was so bright that i can hardly see it.

i that time take scoot, also land at 5-6am timing.. so i took HSR straight to kaohsiung then take private van to kending.. reach kending about 12-1pm... also cannot check in! LOL!

nt2000 fetch us up from taichung hotel to cingjing minsu, drop us to green green grassland only, we decide on the pickup timing as the driver was flexible.

okbus costs nt1100 for 2 pax from taichung hotel to cingjing minsu, departure time is between 10.30 to 11.30am.

Wah which minsu was that? Intro leh. Im gng again in Nov.

Yep! Lucky to be able to catch the sunrise at hehuanshan as past 2-3 days has can't see sunrise. But it was super super super cold, do get minsu to provide winter wear or something thick if possible, jacket available on the tour bus may not be as good.
