Need advise on desktop purchase

Need advise on pc purchase. I am going to buy a desktop. Is it still worth to go sls or buy direct from pc manufacturers?

The desktop will be used for virtualization, video and audio streaming and also light gaming like mtg arena, dota and lol.


I am not too sure the latest technology but i need a powerful cpu and at least 32GB ram for virtualization. Is 512GB SSD cheap nowadays?

The desktop must be able to support Dota 2, LOL and Diablo 3.

And i need a blu ray drive to play movies.

I still have some old parts: CORSAIR 200R casing, Samsung 250 GB 840 EVO SSD and some old hard drives that can be used for storage. I do not need OS, speakers, mouse, keyboard and monitor. Wifi is optional as i can use ethernet.

My budget is $1.2k, is it reasonable? Appreciate any advise from the experts here.

Wrap it off with 128GB of memory and it's gold. More than enough vCPUs to handle virtualization and do video rendering all at the same time.

512GB M2 sata drive very cheap. Bought mine on primenow for $65. Ram is about $140-200 for 2x8GB.
