need advise on improving gaming graphics

Hi all, please advise which part i should upgrade in order to improve overall gaming performance on my PC.

your monitor resolution is 1440P or 1080P? The 970 may be slightly lacking for 1440p

Either way, 970 is quite a substantial upgrade. mm whats your budget anyway

currently running 1440p resolution but its lagging badly. Budget is around $350 for gpu though..if theres a huge improvement then i might go for it

Yeah, I think you will see quite a lot of improvement. Benchmark

However, with Pascal coming out next year, now may be a weird time to upgrade. Normally this wouldn't be a problem, but Pascal's improvement is supposedly much more than your typical yearly update of GPUs. If you can wait, then you should. When Pascal come out, you can either get one of those, or get a 9xx series for much cheaper. But if you don't wait, I think it's fine too since Pascal doesn't have a concrete release date yet.

If you intend to upgrade now, the 970 may be a big jump in performance, but however it won't be enough for your 1440p display if you crank up settings and also push in AA.

You would probably need a sub $7xx card range to do that.

And that will be either the 390x at $6xx range or the 980 at $7xx range.

I remembered playing SoM on my previous Msi gtx970 golden edition, was getting at a mere 2xfps to 3xfps. Sluggish and slow.

Unless I turn down a few AA settings and run on mid high settings, then only I will achieve 4xfps to 5xfps.
