Hi guys,

This is the first time I'm into liquid cooling.

First of all, I like to know if there is any liquid cooling for both CPU and GPU?

I'm using intel 2nd gen i7 processor and MSI GTX 580 lightning edition.

If possible, please post any link or guide on liquid cooling.

Thank you....:s13:

My rig still working fine, no problem playing the games I have and the only issue is the heat. Just trying to lower the temperature and learning about the setup of liquid cooling at same time.

I have no plan to upgrade my rig for near future, therefore I plan to change it to liquid cooling.

U refering to liquid cooling aka AIO cooling like h100i, h105, etc or watercooling which includes rads, res, fittings, etc. The former costs $100-150, and the latter costs $1k and above.

For AIO, if its cpu, den easy. As long as the AIO supports ur cpu socket, it will work.

For gpu, its harder. Since urs is lightning, gpu socket position may b different than that of ref. U can read up on nzxt kraken g10 gpu bracket. Pair it with any asetek AIO (circular pump) cooler.

2 AIO loops?

there's the NZXT kraken for GPU cooling

as for cpu, choose you AIO of preference

WC both GPU and CPU on same custom loop need good pump and waterblocks that dont restrict flow while allowing good heat transfer.

and you must get thicker and longer radiators, and better sequencing of which heat source to cool first and sequencing of all components..

do i watercool? No, reason being i want to cool the chipset as well if i WC my system...but considering i dont like aircon, the gain from WC wont be substantial due to the facts that;
1) WC still depends on ambient air temps to expel heat thru rads
2) adds more points of failure and more maintenance(i'm a lazy guy)

If u think liquid cooling will make your room cooler, you are going to be disappointed. But liquid cooling will cool your card better.

U mean the GPU too hot or the output of your com to the environment too hot?

The overall heat output from my rig to environment.

I'm thinking that WC will lower the overall heat output since the heat will transfer to water.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I might have wrong idea about it.

BTW is WC noisy? My current rig is almost silent

Even though WC transfers the heat from the parts to the water loop, the radiators will have to transfer the heat in the loop into the air or else the WC loop will overheat. Your room will still get hot eventually.

If you want a cooler room, install an air-conditioner or get extra fans in your room to improve air circulation in your room.

My current case is NZXT Phantom full tower but i forget the model..

I saw some holes seem for WC pipes.

If your case can support 240mm rads like h100i, then it can support 240mm rads. Just a matter of max thickness it can support.

BTW, those holes are for fans, mainly. Unless u mount the rad directly onto the case and set fans to pull.

I will try to get a mini fan for it. My rig is under table and the heat will concentrate under the table..

I rather u get a new gfx and add more fans to ur case :s22:

It no point to spent at least few hundreds dollars to get new gfx when mine is still working perfectly but add fans will help lower the heat?

No point cooling an old card also.... Adding fans at front or top of case wun help much in dispelling the heat of the gpu out of the case. At most, 1-3 degC diff nia. Most useful is if your side window is able to mount a 120mm fan at the side. That part would be more beneficial.

U have to identify the problem

Isit ur CPU or ur gfx creating this heat ?

I can see ur CPU still good , do u game often ? Wad sort of games u play ?

I suspect ur gfx giving out all these heat, and changing it with say a gtx750ti might greatly reduce the heat output for ur rig

But first u must know where is the heat being generated from ur rig

I have 2 80mm fan blow in at the side alr. In fact, the front 120mm (i think) blow in, top 2 140mm blow out and back 1 120mm blow out too

Any good software to check the temperature? Im playing tera online with best graphic setting. Sometimes I'll play L4D2, audition and some minor games.

I did a clean up the rig for dust and dirt few months ago.

Hmmm then I think u got the whole idea wrong about watercooling le. Like what alternativex mentioned, the heat produce by the GPU is always the same no matter what cooling methods u use. Wcing is only cooling down the GPU more efficiently by transfering heat from the gpu to the liquid then released out through the radiator and not reduce the heat output of the GPU. hence wcing does not reduce heat output from your rig to environment but reduce the temperature of your GPU in full load
