u do realise option 2 and option 3 are literally just the same laptop in 2 different screen sizes right??

anyway just ask yourself do you want to play BF1 at medium or above medium settings. If the answer is above medium, get anything with a 1060 or above (that means dont even consider the omen)

I see option 2 is 8gb RAM option 3 is 16gb. How will this RAM and sata hdd difference affect? Choose base on?

you can game perfectly fine on 8GBof ram

'sata hdd' is referring to the hard drive. Option 3 has an added SSD (solid state drive) which is faster at reading/writing data, but given how small the SSD is, you wouldnt be able to fit more than 3 modern games in there looking at recent game sizes.

Hi everyone

Traded in my old Asus UX303 and they offered me $450..nice and used it to offset Hp omen bought. Paid only 1.5k for it.
In the end after viewing the Asus Rog strix GL502 model many times still decided to go with HP omen. I guess main reason is 1050ti meets min. Req and i am not in favour of laptop lablled fully of being gaming laptop. I mean hp omen is also a gaming laptop but there only one omen while Asus has many models for their gaming series.

450 off is a good offset for purchase. HP omen comes with free wireless mouse and a bag. Anti virus and warranty as well.

Another thing abt Asus is i spotted. On their brochure they stated the Asus Rog strix GL702VM model has 7th gen processor but their display show 6th. Ask the salesguy and he confirmed is 6th. Then i ask why display and brochure different is misleading. Then he say oh because 7th gen model is not on display. Then i am like but ur brochure and display set same model number what!! Then i just left and he ask his colleagues they ask him ask boss. Such misleading info. Although the Asus Rog strix i want has Asus word below the screen and not republix of gamer but the word is behind but still i still go with hp omen..

if you already decided on a 1050ti beforehand theres no point in soliciting for opinions or suggestions in the first place. No matter what convincing argument anyone can put forth in favour of getting a laptop with a 1060 your brain was already dead set on the omen from the start. this is what we refer to as confirmation bias.

dont even know wat this statement means

u want a gaming laptop that is also not labelled as a gaming laptop? so... why werent u looking at dell inspirons or XPS?

asus has many models but HP has only 1 Omen model in SG, so u bought the only model that HP offers does that give u a bonus sense of satisfaction

IT show is like that, the display sets dont ncecessarily represent the actual product, and the staff are all part timers hired just for the event with no actual technical familiarity. I was even there yesterday and the staff handling my purchase even forgot to pack in the freebies that came with the IT show promo.

First of all did you even ask them to bring out a GL702VM off the shelf and visually check out the CPU model labelled on the side of the packaging?

Now since you're obviously confused why does the skylake and the kaby lake laptop seem to have the same 'number', here is the explanation:

- Yes they are both literally called Asus ROG GL702VM, even though they hold different generations of CPU.

- However, the full name of the laptop SKU is not just that, the full name is something like GL702VM-xxxx whereby the 'xxxx' is the part that differs based on what CPU generation it is.

- The only time when the 'VM' part of the name is different, is when the GPU model is different. Eg. VM represents a 1060, and VS is for those with 1070, etc. The staff wont be able to tell u this cos like i said they are just temp part timers taught to be salesmen not tech advisers.

- The reason why the display unit is 'outdated' is because kaby lake is still fairly new (less than 3 months) so its not surprising that they'd rely on an older unit for display, especially when only the internals differ and the model's look and aesthetic still gives a good representation of what the actual kaby lake version will look like. But feel free to nitpick and split hairs and comment on deceptive marketing or whatever, we all have our different standards of integrity.

ok but its rather misleading if you don't catch that and buy the model base on the brochure specs..

hmm can I ask what did you buy? i just happen to see my hp omen don't even meet the minimum req for battlefield 1? i thought can play like what many of you said. its the cpu that don't meet, see below:
Minimum: Core i5 6600K / AMD FX-6350
You Have: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz

I haven get the game its just tt i thought it would be better if i run a specs check from systemreqlab aka canyourunit and i happen to see that my hp omen dont even meet the CPU minimum req? Just want to clarify before money throw away thanks...

whats going on?

Im pretty sure they dont sell display sets.

If the brochure says kaby lake and they give you a prepackaged off-the-shelf unit that has skylake then you have a right to complain

hmm can I ask what did you buy?

a wacom intuos pro

the canyourunit is inaccurate. this is why you shouldnt anyhow trust those kind of automatic checking softwares

Do you know what the i7-7700HQ is? Do you know who uses it? Everyone uses it. Every gaming laptop that underwent a kaby lake refresh uses it. Like seriously look at the list at the bottom of this webpage
http://www.notebookcheck.net/Intel-Core-i7-7700HQ-Notebook-Processor.187975.0.html

is it believable that all of them (which are all gaming machines) fail the CPU requirement for battlefield 1?

how about just install the game on your laptop and try it for yourself? isnt that the best way to tell the performance

understand about the display set. its the label - the A4 laminated paper with the specs for that model that is different from the brochure. can be misleading imo.

ok for now, playing rainbow six siege first. battlefield can wait/
