CPU shut down after starting for 1 sec...Blown PSU?

Hi all,

I think mobo is fried , need a alternative / replacement. Any brand is fine but I don't know which to buy. Since it a old PC, my budget below 100 or less .

Should I buy 2nd hand or brand new?

I think it's quite hard to find a brand new LGA 775 mobo. You can try your luck at Tradepac. Their price list still have a few LGA 775 mobo.

Looking at your specs, you might wish to consider a second-hand MB until you are ready for a full upgrade. You can check out this - Asus P5N-D Mobo, Core 2 Duo E5300 CPU, Coolermaster PSU 650W (keep the MB and sell the CPU).

Edit: to expand a bit, $60 or $70 for the MB + CPU. Use the MB with your existing CPU to check that it is in fact your existing MB that is spoilt and not the CPU. If MB works with your existing CPU, sell off the E5300 CPU. If not, then it could be your CPU that is spoilt in which case, keep either board + the ES5300 and sell off the other MB.

Kinda old already your parts. Risk of buying second hand mobo for your cpu. Think if were to change most likely got to change everything.

Buying secondhand mobo is risky as no warranty for that case.

To buy new 775 from tradepac also quite hard. But can give a try and see how much they sell.

But kets say you wanna buy new one do you have a budget set aside?

Hi Asus@SG

Everything was fine when the pc shutdown by itself, restarted and shutdown again.

Finally, no signal to monitor, only fans whirring at high speed.

Brought to Perdure Tech to check, the technician told me Mobo issue

tried to power up...lights up 1 sec and shuts down again...

yes can re-use everything.
:D

Asrock B75M - DGS + G2010 = $131
1x Kingston 2GB DDR3 Ram = $26

Total = $157

Buy all from Tradepac.
This is the lowest I would recommand.
