Need feedback for my PC build

Hi all, first time building a PC from scratch. I have done an extensive research on all the components, mixing and matching parts and try to get the most bang for buck components for the limited budget that i have. Would be nice to get some advice and feedback from you guys.

[GPU] ASUS GTX1070 8GB Strix
[RAM] Corsair Vengeance LPX 32GB (4x 8GB) DDR4 2666MHz CL16 Quad Channel (Black)
[SSD] Samsung EVO 960 512GB SSD (when available hopefully by late Oct)
[HDD] HGST Deskstar NAS 4TB
[PSU] Superflower Leadex Gold 750W F.Mod
[CPU Cooler] Cryorig R1 Ultimate Cooler
[ODD] ASUS 24x DVD-RW SATA OEM
[OS] Windows 10 Pro
[Monitor] Dell UltraSharp U2515H 25" IPS LED (x2)
[Casing] Cooler Master MasterCase Pro 5 Mid Tower
[Casing Fan] Noctua NF-P14s redux-1200 PWM (x3)
[Headphone] Audio Technica ATH-M40X / Audio Technica ATH-M50X (undecided yet)
[Speaker] PreSonus Eris E4.5
[Sound Card] Asus Xonar U7 7.1 USB Sound Card

*I already have the OS and Monitors, planning to get most of the remaining parts from PC Themes, and elsewhere/online for parts that PC Themes does not have.

Purpose of this build:

• Mobile game development and programming with Unity
• 3D modelling, animation and rendering with Maya/3ds Max
• Graphic design and creation with Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
• Video creation and rendering, sound editing, motion graphics/VFX creation with Adobe Premier Pro and After Effects
• Gaming mostly single player or non extremely competitive games (1440p, 60fps, High/Ultra settings)
• Web design and development with Adobe Dreamweaver

I also intend to launch multiple programs concurrently, e.g. open Unity, Maya, Photoshop/Illustrator at the same time, and they should still run normally without any lag.

I am also not sure if I should replace the stock fans on the MasterCase Pro 5 with the Noctua fans, are the stock fans good enough for cooling? Noise is not the highest priority for me, although it should not make loud noises that are comparable to jet engines during normal operation.

I would appreciate any advise on whether my build is optimal for what I intend to do, and any replacements for these parts if necessary/advised.

Why 4tb black? unless its for warranty, you could also get toshiba 4tb cheaper
Who uses dvd drive anymore? get usb to bluray drive
Instead of 2x 25 inch small monitors, get 1x 34" ultra widescreen
MasterCase Pro 5 Mid Tower looks damn ugly. Why buy that?

M40x user here, I recommend that too over m50x, the price difference don't have much difference in the quality, in fact the m50x bass is pretty bad.

ODD wise not sure why u need but most ppl today don't use CD DVD anymore

Can consider getting gtx 1080 since I see u have quite a budget

Ssd u can try getting a m.2 form factor, perhaps 850 evo or even 950/960 pro, for me I chose that because don't need to plug any cables

Both the m40 and m50 is not comfortable for long gaming sessions suggest you go for ad500 or ad700 if you intend to game for long sessions. As for the sound quality for m40 vs m50. The m50 have a better bass but the m40 have a clearer sound but weaker bass.

1070 can get the zotac or palit for more value. WD drives can get blue.


Soundstage is a problem for m50/m40 so if you think you need it can look at akg240 or ad500/700, hd668b.

I assume that for your work you need absolute stability .... thus no overclocking involved
then the 212 cooler is fine .....

manage your expectation .....

the 212 is not sufficient if you intend to overclock that chip



also change the 1070 to zotac brand from lazada ... save $300

Since you're spending so much, consider getting a better tower cooler or even AiO if you're going to OC. But big tower cooler would be more reliable for your usage. Something like Noctua NH D14 or Cryorig R1.

You can search this forums for people facing problem with seasonic in recent years. Superflower is a tier 1 manufacturer so you can consider that

I did consider WD blue initially, but then I have seen so many people mentioned in other forums that WD black is more reliable and better if using it for video editing and especially working with large file sizes (intending to create/edit raw 1080p videos which tend to be damn large).

212x can be used even if you are not overclocking for better cpu temperature then the stock cooler. Since you have no idea how to overclock just stick to a non overclocking build. Get a non-k intel cpu and H/B mobo combo. Can stick with the 212x cooler or just use the stock intel cooler.

Btw I myself using the m50 and I just feel that it sounds fun with all genres of music especially bass heavy kpop or other types of music. Its my go to headphones when I need that extra bass for my music or gaming.

iirc its not for sale yet, the difference is the tech they used to build it, evo is tlc, pro is mlc (higher tolerance for write, means can write more to it before it wears out) pro is also faster BUT
real world speeds u can't really feel.. a normal SATA3 ssd feels no diff to the current 950 pro imo unless u put them to benchmarks la but again real world usage u probably won't see the diff.

but anyway as i've said, i go for the m.2 ssd because don't need to plug too many cables
and ur mobo can support 850... more like u can use a SATA3 SSD and a m.2 SSD.

EDIT: now that u mentioned it i think ur mobo cannot use 950 or 960 ssds. i may be wrong, a sexpert on nvme and pcie maybe can share, but funny eh a high end latest mobo cannot use nvme ssd

Im getting the 6800k purely for its 6 core which I think will be beneficial for my needs

I might be doing more research on those you suggested, since I'm not sure what kind of headphones will I need for sound editing and gaming for 3-4 hours per session I foresee?

i think they are referring to e m2 slot, which is the pcie ssd slot .. u still got e SATA ports for e regular sata ssd
