That is if, and only if, you play on the apu. The Ryzen 2200g is still a very capable cpu even if you use a dedicated graphics card. It's right in between the 8100 and g4560, both in performance and price.
Why I recommend the 2200g is due to the motherboard compatibility. Amd has promised that the current am4 motherboards will be used till 2020, when there's another batch of new cpus coming,meaning that if you want to upgrade later, you can get a newer cpu than if you decide to go Intel and need to replace the motherboard as well.
Good points but imo, upgrading is a myth
More and more people are buying computers with a console mentality. One shot pain, throw away and buy new one after a looong time.
If you are talking about resale value
You lose more in the resale market than the cost of the motherboard when it comes time to sell. Compared to the intel counterparts, AMD attracts enthusiasts more than the casual gamers. The former knows the market prices better than the latter.
Performance wise the 2200G sits right in between the G4560 and I3-8100
But for $10-20 more, you get 10% higher performance with higher resale value in the I3-8100 + Motherboard
So the 2200G is relegated to one market which it excels in far better than any intel CPUs
That of the Cheapo Esports games EXCEPT PUBG AND as a work computer
I am actually using the R3-2200G as a work computer in a Chopin and i would say i LOVE it. It can playback videos, the occasional game or two, all on a 65W TDP. OCcasional edits. But most imortantly,. the Chopin doesn't feel Cheap. It doesn't look plasticky and it screams PREMIUM. vImportant if it is sited directly in front of one's eyes..
It is capable of playing CSGO Dota2 LOL Overwatch and most importantly Fortnite.
The difference between the 2400G and the 2200G is that that the 2400G is capable of handling epic fights in overwatch better than the 2200G ( which can transform to close to a 2400G with a $50 upgrade to a better cooler )
But at $100 more than the 2200G
It will find a tough match as compared to even a G4560 + GTX 1050 Combo which is $50 more than the 2400G
So i would say that if one needs a real cheap computer
2200G 8gb ram cannot be beat. You can get one for about $600 on carousell / SLS.
Add a monitor $140 and keyboard mouse and mousepad and it still costs less than $800. And if you want a ridiculously sized PC that you can carry to lanparties oh so easily, stick it in the Chopin for about about $800+/-
But for $1000
i3-8100 + GTX1050TI
or
G4560 + GTX1060
are good choices
