I took a job few years ago with a training provided. After training I was bonded with company for three years. I resigned before finishing the bond so I have to pay the company liquidated damage. Until now I did not pay and the company order dun bradstreet to pursue the debt from me. telling me in letters if I not paying, they will take legal action and my debt info maybe uploaded to sccb.

please someone who knows well about this case, tell me about it and maybe some advice. what consequence will be like if I not pay. really little clue about this, google it but found out nothing worth info. heard from my friend someone also received the letter before and he completely ignored.

How much was the liquidations damages vs the training course? Reasonable?

You sign the contract with your eyes open, so do the right thing and negotiate a payment plan with them. Make sure all communication us in black and white.

If you continue to default or even refuse to communicate with them, they can bring you to court to recover the amount. If you feel you have a case, then fight it out in court. In this cases only the lawyers win. If you didn't attend the court session, court will rule in your ex creditor's favour. By now, your credit record will be updated. Want to apply credit card also difficult.

Then your creditor can take any of the following actions:

1. Apply to the court to seize your money (I'm not too sure about this) or belonging. No use not opening your house as with court order, they can break open your door.

2. If amount more than $10k, can apply to court to bankrupt you.

3. Can apply to court to garnish your salary.

Or worst, can sell your debt to private debt collector. This will be the worst of your nightmare as you don't know what sort of tricks they will resort to.

Just do the right thing and negotiate with your creditor. Face the issue and it's reduced by half.
