Hi guys, a total computer retard here, I need some advice on building a cpu. My budget is around 1.2k just for the cpu. I don't need monitor, keyboard, mouse and OS.

Gaming, types will be, GTA 5, Fallout 4, witcher 3, MGS5 etc etc. Editing photo/video, nope. Need wifi, nope.

you need a i5 - non k cpu with a H170 mobo

Since you are playing modern game, it's good to have at least a gtx 970 (assuming you only game at 1080p) or better.

These 3 items will be as round $1000 already.

Since you are playing modern game, it's good to have at least a gtx 970 (assuming you only game at 1080p) or better.

Can go with Intrance's recommendation. Not much performance gains to use i5 6xxx CPU. And I don't think you will utilise the features of a H170 mobo. Use the money to get gtx 970.

If you want more budget case, can look at coolermaster n200.
