1) Name all games and programs that you intend to use with the rig.

2) Budget?

3) Overclocking?

4) Why do you need an i7? Games generally do not benefit much from Hyperthreading. An i5 is good enough.

5) Why do you need 32GB RAM? Games generally only need 8GB RAM unless the game has memory leak issues. Windows 7 Home Premium is also capable of using 16GB RAM only, having 32GB RAM is therefore pointless and a waste of $$$.

6) Are you using both monitors for gaming? If so, getting a 144Hz monitor is pointless as the monitors will still run at 60Hz max in a dual screen setup as your older monitor is incapable of running at 144Hz.

CPU+ Mobo: GIGABYTE Z87X-D3H + i5 4460 (453)
RAM: G.SKILL RIPJAWS-X 1600MHZ ( 4GBx2pcs ) CL9 (115)
GPU: 2X ZOTAC GTX 970 4GB TWIN FAN (1018)
SSD: CRUCIAL MX100 256GB (162)
HDD: TOSHIBA 1TB 7200RPM (69)
DVD-RW: LG 24X DVD-RW SATA OEM (25)
PSU: SUPERFLOWER LEADEX 750w GOLD (165)
Case: CORSAIR 300R (119)
OS: WINDOWS 7 HOME PREM (120)
Monitor: AOC 24" Q2460PQU (479)

Total cost: $2725

Buy at PC Themes, #04-15, and ask for discounts. DIY yourself. If you can't into DIY, go to PC Care & Solution at #02-32 and ask Nigel to help you assemble for a fee.

Notes:

1) This build is NOT intended for overclocking.

2) An i5 is still enough as videos and internet surfing are not even CPU or GPU intensive and thus an i5 is good enough.

3) 8GB RAM is good enough for gaming as videos and internet surfing has very minor impact on RAM usage.

4) Casing opinions are highly subjective. You may wish to take a walk around SLS and check out the casings.
