Need help building gaming rig! 2k budget

Hi guys, planning to buy a new rig + monitor, no need keyboard/mouse/OS, budget 2k. Ignore my current rig in my profile...

Planning to play Black Desert Online and also future-proof my build for the next 2-3 years.

Hoping to get a K series intel chip or maybe one of the new Ryzen chips to overclock and add some life to my build when it gets older.

Here are the parts I've picked so far, feel free to chime in with better options:

CPU/MOBO: Not sure
GPU: MSI GTX 1070 Armor
RAM: Corsair Vengeance (2x4GB)
SSD: Samsung 850 Evo 250 GB (Or maybe one of the m.2 SSDs or upgrade to 500GB?)
HDD: Toshiba 1-2TB
PSU: EVGA 500B Bronze Power Supply
ODD: Any cheapo one
Cooler: NZXT Kraken X61?
Case: Unsure. Mid-tower size
Monitor: Something with GSYNC if it's within my budget. Preferably 24-27" 144Hz+

You have to increase your budget by a huge amount. A 24" to 27" 144Hz monitor (assuming you gonna game at 1440p) will cost you easily SGD800+ to SGD900+. That is almost 50% of your budget wiped.

MSI GTX1070 Armor is SGD689 (PC Themes price).

You're left with around $500 + - for your remaining build.

Not possible with your budget.

Hmm guess I didn't do enough research. How about a normal 60 Hz 27" monitor? Maybe a QNIX, but I've had bad experience with one haha.

Is the choice of GPU fine or overpriced for my budget? Personally, I think it's reasonable. Is there a better option? Zotac maybe? For the 5 years warranty.

Wait for qoo10 $100 voucher and start stocking up on gift card.

At least for your gfx card, you can get it down to about $570.

You can consider also Zotac gtx 1080 mini. Got mine after all giftcards, vouchers, credit card rebates at about $700

If you looking at a 4k 60hz freesync 27" monitor, have a look at HP envy 27". Its selling for $699.

Else you may want to wait for more reviews of dell s2718d. Specs shows it to be 4k? (Upscaling maybe)

Hi there.
I just had mine built not too long ago, so I'll just advise you on a few things i went through:

1. Samsung SSDs(SATA) are very low in stock, quite hard to find those lately.

2. NVMe don't improve gaming speed at all. It will help with file transfer & startup more.

3. I built my computer by 1stly deciding on the display I wanted(yes, I went the other way around). Most ppl tend to concentrate on the rig, while giving little after thought on the monitor. End up with lousy graphics(when viewed) regardless of how good d rig is.

4. Once the display is fixed, try to min max your rig based on your budget.
Ex: 1080p 144hz monitor, a Gtx 1070 is the best, anything higher & it gives no notable difference. 1060 would still be good enough, but certain games can't have the fps maxed out. 1080p 60hz monitor, Gtx 1060 is the best, etc

5. Pay attention to the warranty. I can't stress it enough. You want a rig to last quite some years, so having a component with good warranty will give you some peace of mind in the coming years.

6. Performance/Price/Aesthetics. Choose 2.
Per+Pri=Budget case(best if no side panel), don't care bout the looks. Concentrate on raw performance only
Per+Aes=Increase your budget by $500-1k
Pri+Aes=Beautiful case, downgrade on your specs(get the best looking 1060 instead of 1070, choose Mobo base on looks while down grading a bit(B250 instead of H270), etc

What resolution do you intend to game on? 1080p? 1440p? 4K?

Probably 1080p at least, but hopefully 1440p.

Thinking of getting the i7-7700k with one of the z270 boards. I know most of you guys will suggest i5 though, because most MMOs are single thread bound. Just feel likes i7 got higher chance to oc higher, and would give additional benefits if any game I'm playing supports multiple threads.
