Need help choosing parts

Hi guys, I'm planning to build my first pc, and currently I have:
- MOBO: MSI B450M Tomahawk
- RAM: GSKILL V Series 16gb 3000 CL15
- PSU: EVGA Supernova G2 550W
- SSD: INTEL 545s 500gb
- CASE: NZXT H500
- GPU: ?
- CPU: ?

Initially purchased a Ryzen 5 2600 + RX580 for a 1080p build from Newegg but both items came defective so I sent them back for a refund. After re-contemplating again, I thought it would be great if I could go for a 1440p build instead (can use for gaming and coding).

Currently looking at the RTX 2060, 1070Ti and the Vega 56 as options for the GPU. I'm leaning towards the RTX 2060, but i'm not sure which custom card to get..

Help would be gratefully appreciated, as I have been holding on to the other parts for quite some time already. Thank you!

Ahh the MSI Gaming Z 2060 seems pretty good. I just researched a little and people are saying that it would be US$30 more than the MSI Ventus 2060 with the Twinfrozr cooling technology. Actually now that you mention it, I might keep an eye out for this GPU, and maybe go for the Ventus if the Gaming Z is priced too high.

I dont know but I feel like it would be better to go for a 2060 considering the 1070ti seems a little dated. Also, it might be difficult to find cheap 1070tis now considering that NVIDIA just announced that the inventory for their 10-series are almost depleted.

Are you building a workstation or a pc just for gaming?

If you want to get MSI Ventus 2060, might also consider Gigabyte Windforce OC 2060, similar price.

You might want to consider the ZOTAC RTX 2060 AMP Edition since it comes with 5 year warranty. It's selling on Lazada for $555, left 1 piece. But don't expect too much from it if you want to play games with ray tracing on.

Ahh I see, because i've heard that the 2700x and the 2600x performs similarly for gaming.. You might want to consider that instead? The 2700x is better suited for heavy rendering and workstation uses.

Hmm.. I'm actually thinking of either the RTX 2060 Founder's Edition as I love the look of it but a pity I cant get it in SG.. Buying from NVIDIA US and shipping here would mean that I won't have warranty coverage.. pretty scary haha.

Not very sure about ZOTAC but I think the MSI GAMING Z has pretty good cooling capabilities and should be pretty quiet which is why I'm also leaning towards that as my second choice..

Thinking about it actually but unsure because there are no reviews yet and I've heard some conflicting opinions about Gigabyte.. Have you had any experiences with this card?

For extreme future proof wise, the 2700x hands down are the best. For a price to performance ratio purchase, the 2600x would be sufficient.

i was told if i m not oc, always choose the cheapest memory.

I suppose you mean CL15?

I was actually looking at >3000Mhz speed since I read that Ryzen CPUs benefit more from faster speeds. Can't go wrong with latency of CL14, CL15 and CL16. But yup can't really go wrong with buying cheap memory from a reputable company.

Definitely newegg at the expense of warranty as they only provide a 30 day return period. I had to return a Ryzen 5 2600 and a Sapphire Nitro+ RX 580 because they sent me open box items instead of new items. I'd be cautious if you are going to buy from Newegg.

Am actually thinking of buying locally instead for my CPU and GPU.

for me, i rather be safe than sorry and buy locally. shopee/lazada/qoo10 should be cheaper compare to sim lim price which i had compared (but must apply coupon/discount).

especially for mobo and processor, better get locally. unless u have been DIY PC for quite a while and u know how/where to look out in newegg, then go ahead.

newegg is like a sim lim square online (like amazon) where it's confirm cheaper compared to locally.

but if got anything wrong, you got to ship it back, so might be troublesome.

whether got free shipping, you can see it stated before putting it in cart.

Newegg is an international ecommerce company like Amazon, as what Elysium87 said. Shipping for items are mostly free except for some select items. For all the items that I bought from them (motherboard, ram, case, gpu, cpu), shipping was free.
