Hi peeps!

I'll try to make this as straightforward as possible.

Budget: $380 +-, if no need spend so much also good :s13: I think his case only fits m-ATX... The back only got 3 PCI-E covers. Smaller mobos are also cheaper right?

I just need a recommendation for a CPU(and hence also a compatible mobo) that is 64-bit enabled. My friend's running an outdated duo core series CPU that is only 32-bit, which means he can't even meet the min. specs for games like XCOM2.

Are there any cpu/mobo combos that'll give me the best value for my budget and hopefully last a decent time regarding minimum compatibility? Will buying a overclockable CPU + cooler be better in terms of value rather than just a better CPU?

The other specs for his PC are just generally entry level stuff, 4GB ram, nvidia GT640, etc etc. The main question is just what is the best value I can get with my budget that will be able to be 64-bit and last a while (since I don't think many people upgrade CPUs that often.)

Any deals online or do I just go to SLS?

Thanks a lot!

For that crappy card, using a pentium g3258 is enough

For that money, getting any i5 would be better value

Can you confirm whether the rear of the case has 3 or 4 expansion slots? You only counted 3 PCI-E covers, is there a 4th slot being occupied by a card?

Anyway, m-ATX boards has 4 expansion slots.

Hmm ok thanks!

Asus H81M-D Plus + i5-4460 @357

Would it be worth it to get an i5-3xxx CPU instead? Are the savings worth the lesser performance?

Yes, this will do. If want even cheaper, go for Asrock board.

I don't remember but yeah I think a m-ATX board is needed in this scenario.

i recommend these based on your budget..

i3 cpu is more than enough to play games.. even G3258 is enough (can overclock some more)

but AFAIK, more newer games will take advanctage of 4 cores (i5,i7) to play at high setting..

so IMO, get i5 cpu for 'future proof'

but if you have budget issue, then i3-4160 + asRock H81M HDS R2 @239 will do the trick
