After hours of research done, I manage to compose a list of components for building my next gaming PC. It is as follows:

CPU: Intel i7-4790K
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VII Hero Z97
RAM: Corsair Vengeance Pro DDR3 8GBx2 1866Mhz
GPU: Asus GTX 980 Ti
PSU: Corsair HW850i 80+ Plat
SDD: Samsung EVO 850 1TB
HDD: None
CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H110i GT
Wireless Adapter PCI-E: Asus AC68 Dual Band AC1900
OS: Windows 8.1 Home
Casing: NZXT Phantom 530 Full Tower ATX

In the near future I will be adding another GTX 980 Ti to run in SLI. Need help in verifying my current list of components to see if there are any rooms for improvements. Thanks.

Whats your budget to begin with?

And IF you claimed that you have done your research well enough, you dont need an i7, a 1tb SSD and you wont wanna get hold of the Phantom 530.

think you'll need a 1000W PSU for your future SLI

what would be recommended for a 2 way SLI? I'm planning on getting a new rig with 1 980Ti and intend to SLI it in the future.

The 850W you wanted to buy is enough already :s13:

Still got head room to do OC

Whats the main usage for the rig other than gaming? Are you intending to game at 4k? It would be easier to advise based on what you want the rig to accomplish.

Sorry for leaving that part out. I am using this build mainly for 4k gaming on high settings mainly. Other uses are secondary. So what would you recommend for gsming at 4k?

I will only SLi if i get a 4k monitor in the future. but for now i will probably get a new 1080p monitor e.g. ASUS VG248QE.

then again, i think i should put more thought into the likelihood of doing so since i can save some money by getting a 650 or 750 w PSU if i dont SLi in the future

980Ti just to game at 1080p? That's quite alot of money to splurge :s13:

If gaming mainly, head for an i5. K versions for overclocking if you really want to try it. Do take note that overclocking don't yield much gain for gaming. Unless you do video rendering or run CPU intensive programs, you will hardly maximise an i7.

Overall, your build is quite balanced. Can try out how 1 980ti fare in your games first. If unsatisfied then add another for SLi. Just note that games compatibility with dual GPUs might also limit how much result you can get from SLi.
