Hi all pros, may i ask a few things?? Firstly i have a samsung notebook RF511-S03SG
its using intel i7 and the motherboard is "Intel HM65", Home premium 64bit.
i went to the website of Samsung and it stated max ram 8gb, however i went to intel website and enter hm65 board, it stated maximum 16gb??
when i bought the laptop second hand, it only comes with 1pcs of 4gb ddr3 10600 ram so i decide to upgrade to 8gb. I bought a 8gb dual channel support ram however till then i realize that i require 2 same speed, size ram to enable dual channel. Therefore right now i am with 8gb single channel mode, i intended to upgrade to 16gb though i wont be using much but i am able to activate dual channel speed.
So, heres my question,
1) may i know if 2pcs of 8gb ram able to run on dual channel on a stated max memory 8gb board which samsung website stated?
2) may i know if i add an additional 8gb to make it a total of 16gb works normally and faster? (i went to borrow a 8gb same speed and brand to try if its able to detect and end up the result was a yes, it stated as 16gb on my computer properties tab, its a short try to see if its able to detect 16 only and not trying out other things yet)
3) Lastly, will exceeding the memory ram as stated by samsung website 8gb harms the computer in the future like overheating because too much memory? or slow things down???
i believe win7 home premium accepts up to 16gb, and my max supposingly 16gb by intel in which i dont know why samsung says 8gb max.
Lastly, thank you pros for helping out in advance!
