Hello, i need help in choosing a laptop for poly use, I have been asking around should i get Lenovo Legion Y530($1282) or Acer Swift 3 premium ($1420) after viewing the poly's vendor offer. My course should most prob be Facilities Management which need min 8GB but recommended 16GB (Only Lenovo can be upgraded) and with Dedicated Graphic of NVIDIA GeForce / Radeon ATI min 2GB , i can't decide on getting a light laptop or a budget gaming laptop. Occasionally i will play some games like LoL,Dota and Rainbow 6. Need some opinion.

You need portability(Low weight and battery life) or performance? If you need to bring your laptop out often then get the light one. Lower battery life means you need to bring charger out as well.

Still unable to choose which one to get. Acer Swift 3 Premium (1.35KG) Light but expensive while Legion Y530 (2.3KG) A little heavier then Swift 3 able to upgrade the RAM to 16GB which is almost the same price of Swift 3.

Y530's GTX 1050 is a lot faster than the Acer Swift 3 Premium GeForce MX150 if you want to choose performance.

Do you have a list of modules that you will be taking? This would be beneficial to help us identify the computing requirements needed.

Aside, Facilities management is going towards Integrated digital design - this may comprise of modules such as building information modelling and other related simulations (computational fluid dynamic simulations / day lighting simulations for instance).

Hence, you maybe required to install softwares which are cpu-gpu intensive.
