I just installed a brand new 1TB WD Blue HD. Also have a bootable Windows 10 USB flash drive connected. No other hard disk is connected. I keep getting an unexpected IO error. Is the hard disk DOA?

It does detect my hard disk in the bios page. And I already tried the USB on a laptop. It works fine.

I encounter similar before for my win 8.1pro.
It keep prompt io error cos system issue, or the installation files is corrupted or missing halfway during installation?

I search and found the solution to create win7 boot disk with win8 or 10 iso using thumb drive.

Hope it helps..

Try a BIOS update, I have a 5 year old laptop which came with win7, had to update bios that supported win8 before I updated to win10.

You are a genius. Used a Win7 install USB instead of Win10 and it installs perfectly. Thank you.

Means what?

Old BIOS does not support UEFI and Secure Boot? Is this the cause?

Old BIOS doesn't support installing of Windows 10 direct. Using Asus Rampage II Extreme. Installed Windows 7 on the new HDD and now installing Windows 10 over it.
