Hello, Im looking for some gaming PC spec recommendations. I do play graphics heavy games(Titanfall,BF3/4) and will play future games. Include a monitor if you have good recommendation, otherwise it's fine.

I read reviews that the NZXT S340 Mid-Tower Case is good, would prefer it but do share some good cases if you know better ones.

Does my budget have enough to have a sound card that supports 7.1 audio? I want to try the Razer Tiamat 7.1 Headset

Thanks for the build, I'm liking it but I have a few questions. Wouldn't 60Hz be low for gaming? And do you have other cases for this build? I don't like the look of this one =P

Tbh 60fps is pretty smooth already you can go check out some 60fps videos on YouTube and see if it's up to your liking. If you are going for 120fps u will have to fork out a lot more than jian current rig. As for case, u can choose yourself as long as it's matx it's should be ok.

How about games like CSGO? Can jian's rig run higher than 60 fps? If so, a higher refresh rate monitor like the Acer GN246HL would be better right? It would look worst since it's a TN monitor.

Disable v/g sync (if you never see any tearing) and you can max out the settings at a very high frame rate for your game. Up there performance with no mouse lag. Most of our eyes can't even pick up the 60hz/120hz monitor refresh rates in real time.. please don't be bothered by those quantitative benchmark values.

Driving games at the desired frame rates in solid settings on 2k/4k (high freq) monitors require expensive gpu setups, albeit the hype and 'shiok' factor.

Have u tried it out personally? Coz i can tell the diff between 60hz and 120hz.. Even on scrolling up and down of web pages... With lightboost installed, it is even smoother.

His rig is more than enough if you're playing cs go.

120hz will help (not sure how to describe - the whole game feels "slower" to me, giving me more time to react) but it is not crucial.

Hmm I have went my friend's hse and tried it before but I cannot tell the difference sia.. cuz I don't game alot lol. His monitor is from samsung.. maybe his is the old 23 inch 1080p type so much so that I don't pick up anything haha. Not sure of the difference btw the new 120hz and the old 120hz monitors though.

120hz is definitely more visible and noticeable than 60hz.

60hz the fluidity of the graphics is not a smooth as 120hz, when you game you will know the differences. Unless you are really slow in noticing graphics motion output.

I found this video on Youtube (watch?v=hAH7H6HBeUY) which has the same cpu and gpu as jian's recommended rig for me and he seem to be able to run BF4 at ultra settings with an average of 110fps. Why is that?

Disable anti liaising and v/g sync?

That's not average. That is pulling max 110fps.

Most of the time when he got shot, or bombarded, or when any form of gpu rendering intensive he dropped all the way to 60+fps.

MAX FPS is nothing if you cant even have a constant fps.

His FPS range if he were to benchmark he wont pull more than 75fps on average.

You wanna game on 120hz monitor, better be constant 120fps rate or somewhere below by 10fps or above 120fps. This will mean that at worse time you are enjoying fluidity of your gaming experience. Not at times hit below 60fps and expect it to be fluid. It wont happen.

Oh ok I see now. So if I still insist on a 120hz monitor just for the fluidity, I can achieve that by lowering a few settings right? And out of curiosity, in order to achieve around 120fps with max settings, does the gpu or cpu requires upgrade? Or both?

You can lower the AA to 2x or OFF.

Also, 144hz monitor are ex... cheapest is benq xl2411z at $499.
