Need help to build Intel 13Gen + DDR4/5 with abit of future proof.
Budget +/- $3000
Game title: Cyberpunk 2077, Horizon Zero Dawn, DBD and some AAA games.
Monitor: Prism+ X315 pro

oh damn, someone who actually lists out all the important info? colour me shocked (and impressed ).

1440p165 is only really attainable with a 4080/4090, though neither are really going to fit in ur budget. if the rumours are anything to go by, the 7900xt/x should offer a comparable level of performance for a lot less money, though u will need to wait another week for them to be actually available to buy (if they dont sell out immediately). u can also consider getting last gen flagships like the 3090ti/6950xt, though they are quite hard to find locally and wont quite max out ur monitor. in the meantime, i would suggest the following (prices from dynacore):

intel core i5 13600k + asus tuf gaming b660m-plus wifi ddr5 OR amd ryzen 5 7600x + msi b650m mortar wifi	738 754
corsair vengeance 5200c40 2x 16gb (for intel) OR kingston fury 5200c40 2x 16gb amd expo (for amd)	229 225
scythe fuma 2 rev b/deepcool ak620 (if fuma2 oos)	83/105
wd black sn850x 1tb	188
msi mpg a850gf 850w	169
any matx/atx case of ur liking	~150

total so far: around 1.55k. this should leave u with another 1.45k for the gpu, just wait and see what performance and local pricing is like on upcoming rdna3. as for intel vs amd, it depends on if u r just gaming or doing core heavy work on the side: amd for pure gaming, intel for productivity, though intel current gen is the last one on the 1700 socket while am5 is brand new with new gens supported till 2025. u can also choose to wait with amd, apparently cpus with vcache are coming soon™.

Hi NightRaven49, recently I was informed that the MSI MAG B660 TOMAHAWK WI-FI D4 that I wanted is out of stock. They recommended ASUS ROG STRIX B660-A GAMING WIFI D4 instead. What do you think of this? Is this a reasonable substitute?

both are top of the line boards, if the price delta isnt big then it should be fine.

Actually it's ROG tax is always not value for money , if you don't mind having one less nvme slot, MSI mortar b660M is pretty much similar to tomahawk.

i forgot the mortar is an alternative to the tomahawk even though i personally run a mortar in my pc looking at dynacore price list, the b660m mortar is basically $100 cheaper than the strix, so if u prefer the tomahawk aesthetic i would say it is the better deal; most people nowadays wont use atx expansion fully anyway.
