Hello. My bro just enlisted for ns, pes B, infantry unit. And I would like to purchase an personal accidental plan for him. Any recommendation?

Already brought the aviva group insurance in term life & personal accident. But I feel that personal would be better compared to group, which is why Im planning to purchase an personal plan for him instead.

Many thanks!

Why do you think personal plan is better than group?

IMO, MINDEF's group insurance has its pros such that it is kept affordable at low rates per mth for a high amount of coverage for death and TPD if you opt to increase your coverage at your own expense. You would not be able to find another policy elsewhere atthis rate.

However, it is to be noted that in the event that death or TPD happened, there is no choice for you to make your nomination as to who your beneficiary is. As per the pdt summary, claims will be paid direcetly to Insured Person, proper claimant and/or legal representative. The claim will first to be made through the organisation as it is the Policyholder, and it might take a long period of time before the claim could go through. That is of a concern if you have dependents under you and it would be mentally torturous to your depds if this were to happen.

Just my 2cents worth :)

I seriously doubt this is a real world problem, but let's suppose it is for sake of argument. Does a ~18 year old NSman even have any dependents? Typically not.
