need help on PC issue.

My PC was working ok then it froze up when it went to sleep mode. cannot click anything still got image on screen.. then i thought hang already so i reset the PC.
after resetting, windows cannot boot anymore. it gives error such as unmountable boot volume.
i go bios see, my HDD is still detected..
dled the windows tool to repair it from usb.. go to cmd and tried to chkdsk but it always give io device error.. cannot even format.
i got an empty hdd in there, tried to install new windows on it also cannot. same io device error.
is my PC gone? seems like a SATA controller error or something.. how can every HDD got IO device error.

i tried everything.. diskpart., bootrec.. all give IO device error.
any advise on this?

If your rig has more than one HDD, disconnect all except the OS drive. If fail, swap HDD and try. Can try different sata port too.

You can try (1) different SATA ports; and (2) different SATA cable.

If same problem, then (3) reset BIOS.

If still cannot work, either both HDD dead or MB problem. Test the HDDs on another PC.

it is also possible that your cable have an issue. try replacing the cable. just my 2 cents worth.

how do i reset the BIOS?

press del or f12 depending on your motherboard brand. mostly using del. look for restore to factory default. apply that setting, save and exit.

Another way of reset is to remove the CMOS CR2032 battery for a while to clear the BIOS.
