Need help on what to upgrade

Hi! My current rig is listed below

Casing: Eclipse P400
Mainboard: asus b85m-g
CPU: Intel i5-4570
PSU: Seasonix 650 X gold
Ram: Corsair Vengence 2x4GB ddr3
Graphic: Gigabyte R9 280x
SSD: Intel 128Gb ssd
Cooling : cooler master poseidon 120m

Currently playing FFXIV on standard settings and i get very frequent fps drop into the 40s. Should i be looking to upgrade the gfx or the cpu? my budget is around 1.5k or so for an upgrade together with a new monitor if possible.

GPU 1st. Can consider getting the i5 8400 if really wanna upgrade CPU. GPU wise, go for 1070.

Just check the power requirements for the GPU. Your seasonic 650W should be able to handle up to 6GB.

TS ... like you, im using the same chip set and psu.
I think you're well off with new GFX card like 1070 Ti ( which you already had )
and add another 8GB to your ram
I still feel that our system can go for another year or two.
