Hi all,

Need your expertise. I have been experiencing numerous crashes lately everytime I try to play some games on my PC (Dota, Tomb Raider etc) But my PC runs fine when I am not playing games (surfing, watching videos etc)

Most of the time the screen will freeze and the sound goes out of whack, sometimes it will crash into the blue screen of death. There are times when the PC doesn't start back up again even when I reboot it.

I believe this most likely to be the vid card problem? I am prepared to buy a new one, but based on my current set up, can anyone advice me what vid card should I buy? A mid range and affordable one will do.

This pc of mine is pretty old, 3-4 years if I remember correctly and the hardware are below.

Mobo+CPU: Asrock H897M Pro4 + i5-4570
GFS: MSI GTX 770 2GB Twin Frozr
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB)
SSD: Plextor M5S 128GB
HDD: WD Caviar Blue (1TB)
Casing+PSU Bundle: NZXT Phantom 410 / Seasonic M12II 650W

Many thanks!

Your rig is still fine for gaming. You can consider GTX 1060 6GB at 300+.

Don't buy a new video card yet. I have the same problems previously and I nearly bought a new card. The problem was actually with my ram. I changed my ram and everything works perfectly. Try that first.

Oh man, so i came back home from work and my pc just didnt work anymore. It started up but nothing shows up on the monitor(it says power saving mode) no lights on my mouse as well(it has lights on it when the pc is turned on) since i had an emergency assignment i needed to rush, i went to borrow rams (same) and an old video card(gtx 780 twin frozr) from a friend. I pluck both hardwares in but still the same scenerio.

Seriously! Anyone has any idea whats going on and what should I do now?

Pc seems to be working. But nothing shows up on the monitor, says power saving like its not connected to a pc. Same with my keyboard n mouse, no lights on both.

Try clear the cmos by removing the cmos battery from motherboard, put it back after 1 min.

Okay, I'm going to have to change the motherboard as well I guess.

Anyone have any recommendation for a new mother board based on my current specs? (with new vid card which is the GTX 1060 6GB as recommended by Kroenig)

Yah, sometimes it does that.

But most of the time, it boots up, lights up, with all the humming sounds but nothing shows up on my monitor, as if nothing is connected to it. No lights on my keyboard nor mouse as well. Normally when my PC starts up, the mouse and keyboard lights up automatically immediately.

Nothing on the audio too, I assume if it was the monitor being the problem, I would at least hear the windows starting sound from my audio when I switch on my PC.
