I was trying to troubleshoot my PC which cannot boot up.

First casualty is the PSU. PSU cannot be powered up. Tried the paper clip test and it's still not running.

Hence, I tried to test the remaining parts using my bro's computer.

1) Connected my PC to his PSU. Was able to power up my PC but no display and beep sound.

2) Remove all parts (GPU, RAM, HDD) from mobo and power up. No beep sound but mobo lights are on.

Tested my GPU on his computer - Working fine
Tested my RAM on his computer - shows overclocking failure (I'm not sure why but probably due to freq issue with his mobo)

I highly suspect that my mobo is a goner. Any other test to confirm that?
If mobo is really spoilt, how do i check if CPU is ok?

I would like to reuse as any working parts as possible so i guess i would only need to replace my mobo+CPU and PSU. Any recommendations?

Have you tested your psu in your brother pc? Is it able to boot. Have you used your brother ram on your pc? Mostly can be either psu + ram or psu+mb+ram or just the ram.

thanks all! resetting BIOS does the trick. so much hard work to troubleshoot

I would only need to replace the PSU. Any recommendations?

Based on the specs below, any recommendations if i were to do a minor upgrade? SSD? can i get more RAM to use with my existing setup?

I think can overhaul when new processors come out

If not using it for gaming and jus basic usage then do minor upgrade by add on min 120gb ssd as boot drive and run application.
