Hi gurus, I have just self built a pc recently and it randomly shut down with pc power button blinking. The issue comes on and off randomly and sometimes it just happens during boot up. Anyone knows what might be the issue?

Things I have done: i recheck all cable connections in the pc parts and make sure they are properly connected,

I have managed to video it.

here is my build

samsung evo plus 1tb
crucial 16gb 3600mhz
fuma2
rtx 3070

Please open up the side panel and check the motherboard q-led light when switching on the pc, this will help to troubleshoot.

Intially I would think you have issue with cpu or ram or it could also be the CPU fan header not connected correctly.

I reseated my ram and front header connector and it works. Previously, as the pc power button is always blinking and slowly losing power after random power off, I thought the front header connector is loose. So reconnecting it will boot up but after awhile the same issue will be back.

Don't sound like a power button issue. After you turn it on, plug out the power button front header and testify

Probably your ram gold contact or ram slot needs cleaning ba, this symptom very common.

- Reseat RAM
- Take out CMOS battery

If still cannot than have to bring to a shop let them diagnose.

Okay I have tested with one ram at a time and indeed the problem lies with one of the ram (giving me the shut down). I am currently testing my pc with the other stick and see if it still gives me random shut down. If both ram are tested with the same slot. Would this mean that one of my ram is faulty?

Yes correct so you need to find if you have receipt for the RAM or not.
For Cruical receipt will be needed if you want to RMA/Service it locally.
But if you lose the receipt there is a way which I am not familiar.

if stick A and Stick B both fail in slot 1 but not on slot 2, then most likely slot 1 is faulty.
if stick A and Stick B both fail in slot 2 but not on slot 1, then most likely slot 2 is faulty.

if stick A fails in both slot 1 and 2, but stick B passes in both, then stick A is most likely faulty.

Err... RAM slots hardly fail, cuz if there are issues most likely is issue with the CPU socket
or CPU pin in this case AMD.

well i still think that u can consider asking nigel at pc care and solutions to see if he can help u check in his shop. unless u have extra rams or mobo to test it out will be better.

"hardly fail" does not mean never fail. standard troubleshooting and fault isolation procedure, since TS said 1 stick is faulty, so in reference to his question, is the other stick faulty, isolate the cause. if this is not a problem, then by all means check other areas whether cpu or mobo or elsewhere. it may well be dirt or oxide or something else causing poor connections in the slot or stick.

work systematically, isolate the problem by areas, eliminate areas that are not faulty. easier to zero in.

just my thoughts. not an attack, no hard feelings.

I have just brought my pc to nigel shop and he says the problem lies either with the psu or the mobo having voltage fluctuation. He advised me to service my psu first and see if the problem still persist.
